I am going to say this right out. I like Mark a lot, but man the guy talks a lot of crap sometimes. He seems almost cocky too, yet when you get to know him, you start to understand that he is a fun guy to be around, so perhaps the smack talk is just a façade.
What I do want to get across however, is that he really is a very good player. Clever, thoughtful and with a good aim, he has the ability to really push the top players when he attends tournaments. He knows how to win them too, with several victories racked up this year at American tournaments. Okay, you could argue the fields were not very deep, but he has still had to make sure he beat players of the calibre of LoSt-CaUsE, destrukt and clamp. (Two of those are in this poll and the other one only just missed out).
His major tournament results have been good too. Consider the field at Intel Summer was one of the strongest of the year (minus Cooller) and Marks 7th place looks very good indeed. I would go as far to say it was his best tournament of the year, including his home victories at Everlan and CSA tournaments. His 13th to 16th results at WSVG and Quakecon are therefore confusing to me. He really should be top 8 more often if Intel Summer is anything to go by.
As with the Swedes in this poll, America has a lot of players to choose from and I can’t help wondering if cl0ck has the persona and the results to overcome the others to be sent to WCG. If he does get sent, he certainly won’t let anyone down, but you can bet your house on him giving plenty of smack talk. As with Forever, quake 4 needs these kinds of personalities.
