ESR is the greatest website on the interwebz only because of its offtopics.

I started playing quake before you did and I know some day I'll stop playing it (probably when id shuts down QL in a couple of years), but I'll be here as long as moderation keeps being very relaxed.

If you take a close look you'll realize this is more an offtopic forum than strictly about gaming. Moreover, there are 0 current users that take quake seriously, and I'd say a big portion of them haven't played it in years.

A good example would be the South Park halloween episode with KORN as guest stars, where they have 2 cemetary professionals give a visual presnetation to raise awareness about grave diggers, and include examples of potential stabwound fucking on Kyle's grandma: It was disgusting, wrong on a lot of levels, but that's what made it very funny, the awkwardness

Now imagine a bunch of schoolkids seeing this episode, and thinking "LoL THIS SHIZZLE EIS FUNNAY XOXO IMA PUT IT ON ESR AND GET AS POPULAR AS LIAM/FUNNYB/MADBRINGER" and decide to recycle the same attention whoring joke under a different reppetoire, just changing the punchline(sometimes).

I come to esr to find out about computer games, and the competitions, beta releases, demos, hardware requirements and community-related debates they bring out. If i wanted to see stabwound-fucking jokes recycled, i'd go to stabwoundfuckingjokes.com ; if i wanted to see socially inept schoolkids making fools of themselves, i would have gotten a degree in pedagogy instead, and if i wanted hit-or-miss deadpan comedy, i would have rewatched Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office (either the UK or the USA version, both are interesting) or The Life & Times of Tim.

You should watch The League, pure awesomeness. Enlightened is a great dramedy full of thick satire (and it meets HBO standarts). And if you like The Office then watch Parks and Recreations.

I've watched all but the last 3 episodes of The League (and absolutely love it!). Parks & Recreation I've watched half a season of, and found it "okay" but not great compared with similar awkward-comedies. Amy Poehler is no Ricky Gervais or Steve Carrell or Alan partridge C:
