Its fast enough for uptodate games like BF3, MW3 or Skyrim
and good for multimedia, editing etc.

way to include stuff not on my list :p although i do need mobo/hdd...im not getting ssd

1333mhz = also more expensive than 1600?

it's good advice though, pretty much what i bought except for a gtx 460 1gb instead of the amd 6870. ssd's freaking rule :S

Not sure why externals are cheaper, possibly less demand for them.

My boss said Seagate were producing approximately 50 million drives per month (could be wrong with this figure) before the floods, now they are doing approx 1.5mil, so they can't supply enough to meet the demand, hence the price going up. Plus there's now a huge backlog and it's going to take a long time to catch up.

It could be a long time until things get back to normal.

Get an SSD if you can afford it. Even the cheaper ones make your computer feel like its significantly faster.

It's not just boot time, it's read and write time. The difference is significant. The price is ofc a deterrent.

What an ssd does is, make everything u put on it launch/boot faster. You could also set it as a buffer to make ur general hdd's faster.

I'd recommend buying an i5 over an i3 especially in combination with a gtx560ti, u dont want ur cpu to bottleneck. An i5-2300(quadcore) is about 40 euros extra here compared to the i3-2100(dualcore).
