The first European UT4 duel cup took place this weekend gone with Hypno prevailing over dylan in the finals and taking home the £73 first prize in the process.
I've just tracked for a £40 offer taking me up to £333.04 cash back :o
Gonna get the free Equifax £8.58 cashback soon too (free trial, cancelled early)
The groups and teams have now been created for the FPSPulse Duel Draft League.
86 players will take part over 4 divisions with teams made up of a player from each division. To see the full divisions/teams check out their news post.
So the UK elections are in 1 month's time & I'll be voting in my first ever elections (:o)
Since the UK doesn't use proportional voting like other countries I'm restricted to 2 choices because a vote for any other party in my area would be a waste.
As my choice is between labour & conservatives and based on this guide (I'll probably read the manifestos once released; I'll at least read updated news with summaries): http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2015/manifesto-guide
any suggestions? wanna make a folder, some stuff I've got:
Wolf's Rain - Sad Moon
Ludovico Einaudi - Nuvole Bianche
Explosions In The Sky - Home
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story - Soundtrack
The Fray - Never say never
Craig Armstrong - Glasgow Love Theme

edit: just realised I can search "inspirational/emotional music instrumental" and then click the similars...hopefully some decent shiz

Fatal1ty/Cooller should totz do something like this for 1v1 (i.e. train some randomer)
He fails at his goal but still gets pretty good. I played pretty much everyday for 9 months but didn't get as good as him....makes me miss it though :((
bonus video: -- that 1:19 shot is ridiculous :o

No indiegogo campaign but anybody have an unused GFX card they'd like to donate? ;o My hd6750 or something is dying...only needs to be good enough to play PQL CTF & watch Arrow
About 30 BSOD's in the last 3 days & pretty sure it's because of the card failing (Google says error code is graphics related & haven't updated any drivers recently).
Tried installing older drivers in place (some apparently working solutions) but no luck so I guess the true death is near.

UKers will know of these (although maybe not how many VODs are up), mainly sharing with others who like property shows.
*Note* If you're abroad and 4od says "appears you're not in UK" click something like "believe this is a bug" or some shit then use the post code B4 7ET. No proxy to find exact messages.
Property Ladder: This is about wannabe property developers. They buy houses cheap then renovate/extend & try to sell at a profit. Since most are newbs they tend to make mistakes/overspend on their budgets. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/property-l.../37032-015
Grand Designs: Castles, churches, barns, unique designs (like them German slot together buildings). High budget developments, sometimes to sell on but often to keep as their own house. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/grand-desi.../54408-001
Location, Location, Location: People being helped to find a house for them to move to. They narrow down & show them 4-5 houses that match their criteria (budget, location, rooms etc). http://www.channel4.com/programmes/location-l.../51943-001
Unless this decision gets reversed then I've played my last game of QL tonight.
We had around 60 people playing PQL-esque CTF regularly spread over 2 servers. People of differing skill levels trying to balance out teams where people actually knew one another's abilities despite them being public servers & not pickups. Now this has all been wiped out with one update.
All that's left is to spam ESR & wait for UT Live

This shit is driving me crazy. I've seen a few companies/hacker groups where the original founders gave themselves some werid job title.
like Supreme Ruler / Eternal Ruler
but I can't find the answer off google (wtf)...does anybody know what the title is & who's said it? I keep thinking open source for some reason.

a coach reversed in the middle of the road, causing a rear-end collision with a semi-trailer where it rolled over on its side. According to preliminary information, the semi-trailer truck had one death and one injured, while multiple people on the coach were injured and have already been taken to the hospital. The scene was exceptionally horrific. Both the semi-trailer and the coach overturned on their sides in the middle of the highway, among which, the semi-trailer driver died at the scene and over 10 passengers on the tour coach were tossed out, splayed across the road.

So I passed an exam last week then got bored last night & started making business cards. Most just had my stuff on there then the last 1 I added company logo (since most designs seem to have company info on).
As a subpar player I'm finding it difficult to find good matches in QuakeLive servers (either 1700 or 1050). Sadly, the faceit ladder doesn't seem to be active either.
What I want is an ability to search for players within a certain ELO range (1300-1400, or 1280-1350) that have played a game in the last week.
The first player in my profile list hasnt played for over 1 year as is the case for most around me. With the option to search only active players I could add them to my list then ask for 1v1s more easily.
Also: the ctf rank page o: but mainly just the 1v1 elo search~
What features do you want?

Does quakelive allow this? I know people making trick jump movies would somehow script bots actions in Q3...is this possible in QL?
Anyone know any good guides for it?
edit: anyone know the names of any trickjump movies where the tricks were scripted?

Syncerror is such an epic troll. Campercrossings has been premium only forever and now he's taken japanese castles, industrial accident (best) and spidercrossings all in 1 rotation. The only good map left now is Finnegans (not tried Fluorescent) but spaceCTF homos have all moved to skyward)
Do me a favour and make campercrossings & industrial accident free maps next rotation, and delete all space maps from quakelive, thanks.

So I've been in China for just over a year now as a J2EE developer & today I handed in my resignation. Main reason for quitting = the job is boring as fuck. Anyone who enjoys JSP is a homosexual. Besides being homo there was also very little work to do. In the 12 months I've been here there's been maybe 3 weeks where I've felt busy all week rather than having a small enhancement that takes 2 days or a couple of bug fixes. Online shopping/tweeting/playing on phones is common within my team throughout the day.
I had kept in touch with the company I worked for as an intern in the UK & they opened up a new junior DBA job up for me after I emailed my old boss & now I've accepted the role (I find learning about databases more interesting). The pay is standard for a fresh graduate (24k...although higher than what they normally pay for a junior there) but I expect to be promoted within a year & then its 30-35k/year. They'll also pay for me to have official training which is over 2k for 5 days.
The UK still sucks though so my plan is to return for 2-3 years and then go back to China (although not in this city and probably not near here). I tried to find a DBA job here but they all wanted 2+ years experience except for one (...they didnt even reply to my app so I guess they want fluent Mandarin).
- Travel: My last day at work is Aug 10th but I asked to start my new job on Sep 10th so I have almost 1 month to travel around China. I'm also hoping the company will let me have the training in China too (course + flight + hotel in China is cheaper than doing it in the UK) then I can have a free holiday & travel around the Eastern cities
- Chocolate: a box of ferrora roches in UK costs like 3-4quid...in china its 8-10quid...crazy fucking import taxes. Cheapo morrisons biscuits too (Y)
- Savings: If I work at that company for 3 years I expect to save around 40k during that time as I'll live at home.
- Weather: It's fucking roasting here.
- Language: I can ask someone their job and know what their title actually is :o
- Internet: it sucks here.
- QuakeLive: theres only like 30 people & 2 servers here so I'm limited to 1v1 and CA. There's only like 2 people at a similar 1v1 level to me :(
- Football: It's all 2am stuff here =/
- Chinese food: It tastes better in Birmingham
- Mingers: fat, ugly, English girls
- Chavs: luckily my bus trips are pretty limited (tram nearby) so I can at least avoid the shitty phone music playing
- Job uncertainty: The company I'm returning to is being bought out. Potential of staff cuts in 1-2 years. If it's in 2 years then it's not such of a big deal but 1 year would be -_ still...it's probably all the different management levels who will go rather than the 13 DBAs looking after 300+ DBs.
Right now I'm building my list of places to visit on my trip :o It'll start with an overnight bus, on my last day of work, heading to the next province (same as a county).
Overall this last year has pretty much been a waste of time. Any savings I've earned during the year are lost when you factor in my flights to/from China. I'll also be taking a different job path so the J2EE experience isn't so relevent. A better choice would have been to start work there right out of university (my old boss asked me a couple months before graduating but at that point I had already accepted this job). Oh well =( start practicing nubs

im wondering what kind of spec is capable of SC2?
RAM?
CPU?
GFX?
prices are cheaper in china...e.g. AMD Athlon II X4 631 = 50quid (70quid on ebay). Is this cpu any good?
AMD phenom II X4 970 = 89quid

Uni
--------------- As predicted I got a 1st \o/ average for the degree = 77%. Game Development: Already knew I had 100% from coursework & labs since there's no exam. Computer Animation: My coursework for this and easy labs meant I had 40/40 towards the final mark. Final mark was 93% so I guess I got 86-88 in the exam. Testing and Reliable Software Engineering: Bunch of generic shit about agile/automated testing. Got 71% Natural Language Processing and Applications: Despite me thinking that 'has' was an adverb rather than a verb I still managed to get 70% here :o was expecting 60~
Got 68% for individual project which is worth 25% of the degree...had no plans to aim for 70+ in this since I expected to only need 50% to get a 1st class overall due to the other 75% (2nd & final year).
My friend got some special prize though for doing the best :o they didn't mention anything about a prize at the start of the year otherwise I might have gone for it if it was anything good (still dunno what it is).

With DreamHack starting tomorrow I've managed to grab mikes for an interview ahead of his TDM matches with DengiOnline.com. Obligatory snippet:
What do you think of the new TDM maps in the DreamHack map list? mikes: We didn’t play Purgatory much, but I think this map is good. Dreadfull Place is ok, but for me it is worse then oldschool ones. DM20 is small and stupid one, though considering current trend with CPM style in QL, it just suits this game well.
With DreamHack Summer 2011 just a few days away I was able to get an interview with strenx, juven1le and ZeRoQL with strenx also discussing the 1v1 tournament. Here's a snippet:
What do you think of the new TDM maps in the DreamHack map list?
juven1le: couldnt have asked for a better mappool. some players have more experience then us on older maps so new maps fits us good. ZeRoQL: yes i agree with juvi babeeeh :D i think they are awsome! ;D we can ninja them easy ;) strenx: I think the same
- All games are played on German servers
- 3 rounds with each server containing 10 players followed by the finals.
- 50% of players progress each round (80, 40, 20, 10).
- Each round is best of 1 except the finals where 4 maps will be played with the overall points tallied (10pts for 1st, 8pts for 2nd etc).
- Players must be in the IRC channel before the tournament begins.
So, as of yesterday, I have now finished uni \o/ all that is left is to wait for my final marks then graduate. This term I had: Game Development: The coursework was pretty hardcore (14 days in total; 11 of them doing long hours) but overall I got 100% for my QL ripoff! The labs were also easy so my average for that module is 100% (no exam) \o/ Computer Animation: I found this pretty shit. Didn't like the interface of the software (Blender) and the tidousness of manipulating shapes. My coursework for this had to be something from the future; personally I marked my 'domesticated robot' at 60%~ but somehow he gave me 100%...completely weird, lowest I've heard so far is 90. Even if I had gotten 60% for this though it wouldn't have mattered since it's only worth 33% and I got max lab marks (7%) and the exam (60%) was so easy (85+); it's the 2nd easiest exam I've had since being at uni. Testing and Reliable Software Engineering: Bunch of generic shit about agile/automated testing. Broken into 2 halves the one was pretty easy while the other is just about how much you can BS pretty much. Should be a low first. Natural Language Processing and Applications: Easily the worst exam this term. How computers interpret language & translate between them~ I think the saddest part of this module is that I realised how bad my English was. Just Googled and found out that 'has' is a verb rather than an adverb :<<< marks lost there.
Only other thing I had this term was to hand in my final year project. It was a simple module database with PHP and bits of JS~ took an easy project, was lazy with it, hoping for a 2:1 (60-69%). I coded over one bit of useful functionality which could have maybe pushed it above 70% if I didn't include those extra 5 lines~ :<<< 100 page report along with it too `-`.
Cruising to the top grade although I doubt I'm close to the top scorer (some Indian machine).
Premier League football! Who do you think/want to be relegated? I'm hoping Fergie tells his players to lose so Blackpool stay up. Ideally Wigan would win and Wolves & Brum would lose then they both get relegated but I'd settle for one of them with Wigan.

So I'm making a QL/3 rip off for uni and need a map to use...I've imported dm3 (http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/59/dm3d.png) but the doors are too small when i jump & if i scale it up the roof comes off...
any other q3 maps with no jumppads/teles besides dm3 & dm1?
edit: RA3/CPM maps...tried all the standard maps
edit: other small maps (tdm/ctf) should be ok if no jumppads/teles...the dm maps have pretty narrow/small doorways

shits a bitch =/ 3 exams in 3 days then the final one on monday :o
off to first now (Y) preparation = playing QL last night xD
Exam 1: Software Project Management (100% exam) - killed it. marked myself at 88%
Exam 2: Enterprise Computing Strategies (100% exam) - not so great but disappointed if < 75%
Exam 3: Information Security (80% exam 20% coursework) - High 70s minimum (Y)
Exam 4: Interaction Design (75% exam 25% coursework) - Disgusting exam. Everyone I spoke to said it should have been 3 hours instead of 2...that shit better be high 60s minimum.
Got 100% for the joke IS coursework...85% for ID coursework but sadly had to remove the asian girls section :(
Update: Everyones raging about the last exam & emailing the course director to complain...apparently it can lead to a 5-8% increase if enough do it? :O
Update 2: Results are out! The complaint for interaction design exam got rejected since marks were up on last years~
Software Project Management: 76% (exam + overall)
Enterprise Computing Strategies: 81% (exam + overall)
Information Security: 71% exam (76.8% overall)
Interaction Design: 87% exam (86.5% overall)
80% average \o/ was hoping for 75 avg~ bit random that the 2 i thought i did best on were my 2 worst =/

Take Two Interactive has recently announced that they have secretly been working on Duke Nukem Forever and that it will be released next year on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K (Take Two subsidiary) states that:
After a hiatus from the video game world, Duke Nukem is back and better than ever. The return of the King from the glory days of shooters will satisfy our patient, die-hard fans, as well as a new generation of bubble gum-chewing, flat top and shades-wearing bad-asses. Make no mistake about it - Duke Nukem Forever is a testament to the era of when shooters were bodacious and fun.
A demo of the game is currently playable at the Penny Arcade Expo (2K Booth). Check out their website for the full announcement.

The show talks about two destined lovers. Meeting in an orphanage, Zerya is taken away by someone believed to be his grandfather but makes a promise to return to Tian Bian 10 days later. Tragedy strikes and he doesn't follow through with his promise but they meet again 20 years later without realising it. When Zerya finds out the true identity of adult Tian Bian and that she is the real grandchild of the one who took him from her as a child he decides to return everything that he took from her; namely wealth & her family. The show is ok but the sick sister-marriage part was annoying and 28 episodes is pretty long. However, the OST is awesome.

After weeks of trying I was finally able to track down and interview the Quake legend that is Anton "Cooller" Singov. During the interview he gives his thoughts on the years passed as well as QuakeLive. Here's a snippet:
You lost vs Avek at Dreamhack this year but did not play like your usual self. What do you think is the reason for you losing this match? Cooller: Alltimes we try to find reasons. Let me say the luck was on his side this day.
Thanks to iNkind, Aaron and skint for suggesting questions and to Cooller for agreeing to the interview.

With 3D Realms going bust and subsequently finding themselves in court against publishers Take Two due to Duke Nukem Forever living up to its name; the people at Wired have written an article detailing what went wrong with the developers at 3D.
By the end of 1999, after blowing several publicly proclaimed release dates, Duke Nukem Forever was nowhere near completion. Half the weapons were still just sketches, and when a new version of the Unreal engine was announced — one designed for live, multiplayer online battles — once again Broussard opted to upgrade.
