" Lack of reliable, third party sources. Notability not established"

Now that's insulting to both Quake and Quake community.

Like 1000x times more insulting comparing to what raythenoob usually write about Quake here.

Actually, I don't think we can do much with it. And i'm not sure that we really should rush with some not very well thought out action.

Let history be the judge. Quake as a game concept is very young, it's only 11 years, and I beleive that it's true glory times are ahead.

you can only point out why you think it deserves to be on wiki and link to some background information and then let them decide, now that they have a better picture of the situation.

not telling you to get an ac and flame them ;)

id is in a conglomerate now, they can't call those kinds of shots anymore and after ql's failure, it would be a failure of epic proportions for all involved if they attempt another quake title in the future. Just let it go man, it's old hat. FPS might go on with rage, etc, but quake is history, literally.

also your argumentation skills need serious help, you got demolished by 3-4 people in this one thread alone:

Get brushed up on facts before attempting to outwit your opponents next time around. Especially when attempting to argue with demiurge. You're lucky he didn't nuke you.

Well, if the page in the way back machine is similar to the deleted version, there were certainly very few references ( http://web.archive.org/web/20100710081952/htt...ton_Singov ), so someone just looking at the article might come to that conclusion,

Someone who cared could quite easily find a whole bucket load of references though I expect, which might have affected the decision if found while the article was marked for deletion, but I dunno how much that would help now.

Are there any users interested in researching and recording the history of Quake, with sources, citations, pictures, &c?

Mass culture is irrelevant. Sports have historical summaries and halls of fame that celebrate the games and players, and offer fans and players motivation and inspiration to persevere in their hobbies and passions. Quake doesn't have that. It has forums and news that disappears within days, sometimes hours, sometimes minutes. It's a schizophrenic subculture that needs some direction. Or am I wrong?

Ok, I got you idea. I think the best way to establish the permance you describe, is by creating non-profit players organisation (association? federation?) under, for example, US legislation, similar to what exist for sports or religios organisations.

This organisation will be able to accept donations from it's members, which will be used for funding it's main function - providing permance through archival of all data relevant to Quake and giving public access to it

Unfortunately, I don't see anybody here who is fit to do this type of thing. And what is more important, I do not see community approval of it either, or even understanding that this is required. And last but not least, nobody can guarantee that this organisation will not turn into second AGP...

what do consoles or PCs have to do with anything?
...quake would and does appeal to some people. period.
saying 'not appeal to that [console] crowd' is an easily falsifiable absolute of a statement. plenty of 'that crowd' played quake on console when it came out, so it "survived" just fine, and plenty of people play other fast FPS games, despite the limited controls.

Exactly what i was thinking. I realize they might not want to have completely random people cluttering their site, but you'd think they'd want to catalogue people relevant to every particular field they cover... and as a universal encyclopedia, they cover *every* field possible.

So it's not only arbitrary, it's contradictory to the very nature of the wikipedia project. Go figure.

From what i've been able to grasp from it, it's more about some policy change regarding video game competitors no longer being recognized as professional athletes.

From Cypher's article deletion talk page:

Consensus is also now that WP:Athlete has nothing to to do with professional gamers.

However, on Rapha's article deletion talk page, some guy makes this point:

Satisfies point 1 of WP:ANYBIO. The subject of the article has won first place at some of the most notable international "electronic sports" competitions in the world such as Electronic Sports World Cup, Quakecon, and Gamescom. More information about these competitions can be found at Electronic sports. His ESWC win can be seen here which in my opinion, would satisfy point 1 on its own.

Seems legit.

Perhaps someone determined to fight this battle could go the extra mile for the other Quake pros as well.

Personally, i'm waiting for the inevitable TL drama when that Rydernyc fag starts on BW pros. c:

From the same source, and excuse me for literally frowning with disgust at this fucking statement which couldn't even qualify as an Orwellian nightmare (his worst nightmare being western, buisness controlled countries turning pro-proletariat and anti-bourgeois, not a petty quasi-elitist community of inept dickheads enforcing their own insecurities by abusing their power and attempting to "control" the very community which gave them their power in the first place* ... just like wikipedia)

Rant over, here is the phrase that sets my brain on fire::

"Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad has received generally favorable reviews. According to Metacritic the game scored 76/100. IGN:PC gave the game 8/10, the reason for the low scores were mostly because the gameplay wasn't great as Call of Duty, nor were the graphics good, which resulted in the low scores."

LOL wow this is good stuff. It's like five year olds in adult bodies.

1. Malleus Fatuorum and Tbhotch got into a name calling dispute on Talk:Manchester United F.C. arguing over singular vs plural grammar.
2. Tbhotch reported the incident to ANI
3. Mkativerata responded first, arguing that neither party was in the right and that administrators should not intervene
4. Further comments from Guerillero, Tbhoch, John, Wikidemon, and Quinn follow.
5. Kaldari responds with: "I warned Malleus about making personal attacks last month. Clearly he hasn't taken it to heart. Blocking for 24 hours.
6. SandyGeorgia commented that the block was asymmetrical despite roughly equal misbehavior, with a brief exchange with Tbhoch.
7. Kaldari answered: "I blocked Malleus because I recently warned him against exactly this sort of behavior. If the other party also warrants blocking, let me know. I am not familiar with that editor's history, however.
8. Bushranger edit conflicted with Kaldari, roughly supporting his position / noting long history w/Malleus.
9. Volunteer Marek objected to the block. Discussion with all of the above except Mkativerata, eventually adding Dayewalker, followed.
10. Kaldari left a warning for Tbhotch at 03:12. [12]
11. Tarc called for unblock in a new subsection at 03:23. Bushranger opposed, further discussion followed with several additional users. Rough even split on the block.
12. Mkativerata unblocked without participation in the ANI discussion and without an effort to contact Kaldari, at 0345. Unblock message was: "(ANI is clear. I made the call not to block. An editor does not get blocked because one out 2,000 administrators happens upon ANI and decides to. First come, first served.)"

this one is still there. :D

ridernyc is an envy noob sh1t who got decimated in the game called "Quake Live" by some random midskiller and now for return he deletes all the Quake champions articles (such as "Cooller" and "Cypher") as a pathetic revenge... hes a good boy of his mother in real life who never late to catch the bus on the way to school, noone knows about his online powertripping persona...

reasons it got deleted

Non-notable professional gamer. Ridernyc (talk) 13:50, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
lol

Delete - Lack of reliable, third party sources. Notability not established. (Additionally, the article, minus the small intro, seems to be nothing more than a place to list off all these non-notable "medals" he's won...) Sergecross73 msg me 20:56, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Delete, for lack of reliable sources. Per WP:USUAL, this could easily change as coverage of the e-sports scene expands - and, if sources become available about Mr. Singov, an article might become appropriate. But not yet. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 12:51, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

i just checked their policy, it appears the person(s) used this as their reason:

Consensus is also now that WP:Athlete has nothing to to do with professional gamers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articl...nushevsky_(2nd_nomination)
Note: you have to copy and paste this link in your browser, the (2nd_nomination suffix leads to a diff page, eg: the one i'm trying to link to)

Wikipedia notability (sports)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Athlete

in short it appears wikipedia no longer views gamers as athletes :(
