It was diabz who once again annoyed me the most, mainly because I know for a fact that he started whining at me within minutes of the release and so before he'd even tried it - which was particularly annoying given that between he and zhakal, they managed to waste a lot of my time after the last release with a lot of whine about a non-existent change to physics related to superhud.

I never played q4 "seriously", and never will, but such a position is fucking stupid... Hate people who always say "BLA BLA BLA YOU BROEK TEH GAME, BLA BLA BLA YOU SPLIT TEH COMMUNITAY, BLA BLA BLA..." etc.

AJ I don't mean to sound like a troll i love the new addition of q4max at 90 fps but I was wondering if unsmooth 2 was tested at 60fps since the americans play 4v4 ctf at 60 fps. I am a low pinger it feels broken xhair be right on model and it goes STRAIGHT THROUGH. LG on the other hand feels fine but at 60 fps it even feels like movement is unpredictable. Tried to sign up at the q4max forums but where the hell is the confirmation code O.o

i really just hate the fact that now everyone can hit 40% lg and 60% rail with mediocre aim. its just the way q3 has become. such a shame that both games had to be broken by ignorant coders. but yeah, i shouldnt really care about this as ive stopped playing now, but i dont like being made fun of, even on the internet by trolls :P

Yeah, on public forums its kinda lame to drop names, they should remove the personal name while stating the point actually, so I tend to agree.

This comes up on the other post about rockets and the naming of names on how shooter isnt a good player, thats kinda lame to be posting on a forum too actually naming names publically.

lol how is being able to aim better breaking the game? Do you think its fair the only people that can dominate a game should be low pingers. Personally I don't like the off skewed ping advantage, and anything that gets me closer to not being robbed of the shots I SHOULD be hitting I am all for it. Honestly, are you just upset because higher pingers can now kill you?

"being able to aim better" now you make ME laugh :) - don't you realize this code is just making shots hit more, not making you aim better. It's semantics maybe, but its important. It's the same in CPMA, noone could ever hit 48% lg in OSP. Changing netcode breaks the weapon balance, it shouldn't be done unless coupled with changing weapon values (knockback, damage, other variables depending on the weapon).

Going back to my previous statement... lets say I played somebody with 50 ping I could hit probably around 22-24 percent LG in Q4 Duel which isn't bad, if play them with 9 ping I could probably hit upwards of 33 to 36 LG. Not because I feel like i'm a better person on lan, its just I don't have to guess where to point my shots, I can visually look and click where to shoot (which should be considered with weapon balance, seeing they did most of their testing on LAN).

That also being said, say somebody likes to do peek shots, LOW pingers get the definite advantage because not only do they get to aim directly on target, when they peak out and in so fast, players have to literally guess when and where to shoot to compensate for the crappy registration.

I don't see how this does not make sense to you, if you honestly feel like the weapon balance is thrown off, then change the weapon balance. Maybe THAT should be your argument, but balancing the ping to high ping ratio is nothing to complain about.

Besides, aiming with every gun other than the RL is still a hell of a lot harder in Q4 than in Q3. And I personally wish it was as easy as it is in Q3.

Not saying one's better than the other, but over here where the rich fat americans live, with their expensive fancy computers, there's more Q4 being played than Q3.

I see you say this in every post about q4, yet the only q4 i see being played is 4v4 ctf on one server, every time i've tried to duel in that game i've had the person /quit on me within 5 min and then i am left all alone...In q3 I have no trouble finding a game ;o

I have NO problems, finding or getting in a game, do you happen to use mirc at all.. thats a starter, then if you use xfire, add some "buddies up" to find a game. Not to mention the abundant DM servers there if you just want to shoot around.

and about saying focus defends Q4 alot, he does but he isn't that active of a player.... So everything he says, he says because its true, not because he has a stiffy for Q4.

Why do you feel the need to defend your game choice? I swear if people would just let other people have their own opinions without feel threaten by them then the entire DM scene would be a lot better place to play. But people feel that they have to prove the "superiority" of a their chosen game rather then just simply being content with their chose and not caring about what other people's opinions are. If you think they are misinformed then let them be misinformed because attacking them is not going to make them suddenly want to seek information and knowledge to change their opinion.

That is why id should add -ego to their software name, becuase its not only about the primitive unconscious drives we utilize in this game---but the ego is very high in this game. Its not that quake 4 is dead, its just that a lot of people cannot stand to take a loss, and this includes me too. Framing words is very important, and the way people use language in quake is not a wise way to use them if you are out on the workforce or the public.

Example:

"muthafuckin lag!!! (bindspammed)"
above is a very ineffective interpersonal way to relay a message.

Now, the person can definitely get the same message across this way and be a bit more effective:

private message to whomever, since x time I have been experiencing lag and its qu ite frustrating.

The second statement is a lot better and probably will get better results, unlike the first one that will probably ensure a bit of a ragefit :P

But what I love to see, is a person who will travel around a map at l ike 800ups strafing, and then claim its their first day playing quake :P I love that lol.

There's a difference. You're not gonna hear me say that Quake 4 is more active than World of Warcraft just because I think it's the better game. That's what the Q3 players keep doing though.

i felt guilty because I'm sure they actually put a lot of hard work to implement the "feature" that I don't like. I still agree with you, but at the same time AnthonyJ has contributed more to keeping Quake4 alive than any other human I can think of, so I felt it made me an ingrate.

Obviously you missed the xerp discussion. It's an automatic handicap. Setting cg_unsmoothclients back now is an automatic crippling against anyone that IS using it. You're forced to use it or not play at all.

I use maxbrowse for both games, and why would I want to play FFA? Sure the ctf server almost always has people on it, but as far as duels go I haven't seen a lot, maybe I just don't ping the servers enough...probably because I don't really care I just play w/e

I guess your trying to find people just waiting in servers for duels? I usually just ask people before I join a server, as do most poeple. The ones with people in them alot are digitalinfamy's, team jex, 420s q4max, xf, q4outhouse. They usually have people playing in them all the time.

lol.. ill play ya with high ping .. anything below 90 is way playable with the new q4max patch.

the current MG damage tickles my fancy, and i doubt i'd ever be able to sleep well again if it were to be changed!

There's pretty much no one playing on west.. one server in texas that has people in it sometimes, and a little more activity in the east.

q3 is much more active.

#q3ctf has half the people of #truecarnage as far as CTF games (plus you can ask for duels there too), and thats just being honest you can check the numbers for yourself; and if you ignore those numbers, #truecarnage has more games per day then #q3ctf as well.

To go about west coast games, ill happily play there as well :). I imagine people in the west coast like cali and stuff.. are usually too busy surfing then playing video games I don't know. Though west coast gamers in general for all games are not as active as east players for whatever reason.

I don't know how about Q3 scene, because I don't play it; except for being occasionally bored, but it usually takes 5 to 45 seconds to find a Quake 4 duel, which is not bad, I don't mind waiting that long.

#5v5 has 10x more people and activity than the two channels combined :P

You know what is really dead. The ability of those folks to accept that Q4 is very much alive and that what ever the game they think is still alive.............probably is ending.

Most of the times its just a raged vq3 fanboy, so don't care they just noticed that their gameplay is far from perfect.
