Where to put the YA? I dont know. I wish any wellknown mapper would fix this. Swelt maybe.
Anyway with this changes i belive The Fragging Yard 1v1 can be a fun map.
a good idea would be to swap the rail and the yellow around (so the rail can be the item to-go-for and therefore making it risky), but then add a yellow near the hyper (possibly in place of the 50 health in that corner) and moving the 50 health in place of a 25 health somewhere and placing a 25 health near the added yellow?
If it were structured like this then it would make armor running almost impossible and making it awkward for rail whores to go for the rail in the open centre?
would you rather have a rail? or... would you rather have a LG and a YA? OR would you rather camp by the hyper with the suggested YA (by the 50h) and wait for the rail whore to pick it up and fall in your lap? there you go... a free rail with armor and a hyper- you're set. if you actually think about where your opponent is positioned and where he's aiming his RG, you can actually dodge or suprise him completely. i just gave my opinion of how I would change the map to be slightly more balanced (with a few extra item moves/changes too)
the RL is in one of the most useless spots, i mean rather put the SG there and place the RL in the SG's place. No offence to the map designers but they placed the items in shit spots :)
there is a severe lack of armour and health on the map at the moment. that is probably the only true reason why people dislike it and therefore blame it on the rail. that's why i suggested what i did and what is stopping everyone else from being rail whores themselves? patience or arrogance? - a lucky rail spawn might give your opponent the gun, but if you actually acted quick enough in the right manner you may kill him before he even gets a chance to kill you? im not trying to say that the rail makes the map balanced either - i just think the rail is currently in an abusive position for people to pick up and instantly be able to start firing. with it being where the YA currently is and vice versa, it may make it nice for attempting to control the rail or will you actually be able to with there being 3 areas to steal the current YA. so you actually have more than one bounce pad to cover...
this is a problem on the map and it needs to be sorted. if it stays the same and it's used in comps, then so be it. we'll be in for some tight rail matches which brings back the classical t4 from q3. which actually isn't such a bad thing as t4 was always an awesome spectator map. gamers love seeing good players fight with rail.
Switch YA for RA. Add shards along the weaker side of the map (i.e. opposite the rail). Add a 25 bubble by the GL. Put another 25 by the 25 that's near the HB. Replace rail ammo with something else. Add a couple 5 bubbles throughout the map.
it's a shitty map for shitty ppl, but if you wanna fix it.. add RA. Like down on the floor, making it risky. and maybe a slow mega somewhere. RL should be where rail is and rail shouldn't be on this map at all.
