thats the 4th time i've heard that matrix track in a gaming movie, please stop using it, there's an infinite amount of tracks out there to use.

It seems to be a trend in the ut1 community atm. Every gamer and his grandma are sticking their air-rockets into .avi format, putting a drum beat on top of it and there are few who really know how to lay a frag movie out.

Maybe its just me, i don't know. They all seem dis-jointed by the fact that people use one and a half minute samples of tracks which barely gives it enough time to develop a flow before there's a (non)dramatic pause of black screen and the next segment starts. At least this movie (in the later half anyway) used in-game sounds. One really important thing frag movie makers must learn is that you either use no in-game sounds or you use all in-game sounds. no random rocket or headshot announcements, you really should go the full wammy or nowhere at all.

I was very negative there, but it's all i could think about whilst watching it. There are people with talent out there, people like lauwef, who actually know what needs to be done (even though he may use a few too many airrockets) to create the right atmosphere, flow and general enjoyment. I'm glad he's making Airborne, that at least should break the monotony

Whatever, it wasn't that bad, the frags were no doubt brilliant, some fantastic combos and what-not, but i just know i've seen it all before.

2) am (though in a gap at the moment) a media student

frags were great, although they were played for. For the music, you had found every drum n' bass track on my playlist, and I only have bad ones ;D Syncing wasn't really there either :/(

Well, although I posted this, I wanna comment on this movie as well. Firstly, some songs were good, I liked the drum n bass ones - btw Patsui wtf, I thought that that Nazgul song was quite underground when I gave it to em :/ I guess not, either way I like it- But I didnt like the fact that he idd used 3 or 4 matrix tracks, and againnnnnnn some fucking nightwish song ( At least I think it was, will check later). Why do all of these UT movies contain at least ONE of them suckage gothic metal shit, I HATE IT. But that's purely a matter of taste. Okay, well now, we all should consider the fact that this movie was made by a kid who isn't even allowed by the law to play UT (in Portugal you have to be over 23 to play UT), so I think that he did a darned good job. The fact that he lives in Portugal and therefore has ping <100 at populated servers makes the frags even more impressive. We all shouldnt forget, that airrockets are still VERY hard to make, and also that some of those featured in this movie are REALLY incredible, and if they were edited at the right way, it would have blown all of your socks off for sure. The video has some kind of weird capture quality, dno why that is, no pretty nice colors, the editing was okay, not special, and the intro with the lighting was ridiculous, and a shame. Never , i mean NEVER use an effect wich you accidentally found in Vegas, Premiere or After Effects especially stuff like this, it's such a waste of "professionality". I think we all remember Smiley his Disposable Heroes, with the incredibly gay sudden " lighting" on deck16 , when the guy headshotted some. People really make those mistakes easily, but hey mistaked are to be learned from :/ . Okay again about the movie. I think it idd could have been a sick movie, but because the author had a lack of competition or companionship (and maybe even taste :P) in moviemaking, it wasn't as good as it was supposed to.
I still rate it an 8 , because the frags were omgwtfbbq (10), and the rest was okay(6) :) that makes 16/2.

The Film is really good ! As i know your skills i was looking foward for it! I saw it, and after that : w00w, the first one (movie) was fukin' nice, this one even better i thought that was impossivle, i was wrong..

It is pitty that you leave ut like this.. and the other comments, if you can do better just do it, but admit this is one preety movie, one of the best movies of ut1 ever :)

I've watched all the UT movies posted on ESR and although I admit that a movie featuring superstar players is always a bit more interesting, none was the mid-air rocket galore that is this one. Somehow, lame ass headshots and *yawn* shock combos don't cut it for me. Seriously how was the fooze movie more spetacular than this one on a per frag level?

F?ck off all who thinks that video isnt good! Its fucking cool that frags i can just say B R U T A L ! ! !

-Frags in replays / from different angles. People can see what is happening in a certain situation, and if they don't, they can watch the movie again. Minus for low replayability. "Ju$t own3d" made this impossible to recreate in a convincing way.
-Music. Lack of sync to create a climax. Common soundtrack (people have heard it before). Creates lack of interest to rewatch it (read; fooze and other movies with addictive / annoying soundtracks)
-Frags on same players over and over (and over) again, especially on other wellknown fragmovie makers. Creates a fake atmosphere of the frags happening in games where the actual result and who wins not at all matters. Big minus for davidm2 and rocket arena / RL arena mods. The frag on 'noob' would have more than done it, and should maybe have been saved for the outro.
-No sprees. Big sprees is more impressive than a single supreme double midair, or any other unlikely hit. Why include a monsterkill on public server when every UT player have done it before, it is 100% standard and should have no room in a quality movie. Too many similar headshots. Too much RL midairs. No flak primary. No minigun or pulsegun. Lack of ripper secondary. No TDM.
-Boring outro with frag replays, I want the next major movie to actually do something interesting, innovative and creative in the credits which doesn't make you shut down the movie right away. If not the first time then you surely won't watch the credits the 2nd 3rd and 4th time when you actually are tired of the movie.
-Lack of focus on anything but frags. It is the same as recent movies, and for this to become a classic it would definately need something Lucky7 / similar doesn't have, and it fails.

+image distortion/general editing
+visuals, angles, easy to see the beauty of the frag without external fuzziness or confusing interactions
+long distance shots that makes people smile :)

it's a great fragmovie, again. I preferred disasterpieces, but this one didn't bore me a second either :)

I did not read any previous posts, so here's my pure impressions/feedback:

I really DID NOT LIKE:
- Video seemed VERY choppy for me (like 10-15 fps ingame, but same was with Disasterpieces)
- Too much special effects (when I wanted to see crystal clearly how a frag happened BOOM.... some ass effects all over the screen)
- Those custom map elevator frags (don't remember the map name) are just in EVERY movie, really annoying same-old-elevator-jump-frags
- Rocket-Arena frags (though some were O.K.)
- Lack of new/fresh songs (but there were some new ones which were sweet)
- It looked like I've seen most of frags twice or even 3 times repeated in this movie (annoying + time wasting)
- Intro too long (God I hate 30+ sec intros)

I really LIKED:
- Quality frags
- WAY better video quality than disasterpieces (still I had probs with fps which made it again.... annoying :/ )
- Good soundtrack


OVERALL a good piece. Just don't abuse special effects and ensure better fps (may be my problem, but I doubt it, otherwise sorry).

First of all, to say, I really enjoyed this movie. Editing and contrast could have been better, but the great frags surely fixed it ;)
I think some frags were the best frags ever shown in UT movies :)

Pretty nice movie imo,

Music was pretty good, a lot of nice frags, nice editing, allthough I did think it was a little overdone some times.

The air rocket kills kinda become booring to me. That has nothink to do with your movie, just that it's one in a long row and a lot of those kills are searched for, if you know what I mean.
I kinda miss the movies who were more like having a good time with ut. Most movies now a days a mostly 'amazing' frags. I would really like to see a good movie again which isn't all about frags, but also about great teamplay, nice tactical moves or plans, great movement, etc. If you've seen the oG vs D (ut99 ctf) demo, then I really enjoyed looking at gwaai's great sniper aim, but also lzr's movement, timing and smart playing.
Anyways, maybe someone will pick up the idee.

Back to your movie, I think it decerves more credit then some people have given you. Pretty good movie.

In my opinion this movie contains very good frags, and is meant to impress as a frag movie, not a visual stunning quality movie. Agree on the choppy fps, some weird option badalhas ut is set to ;< also noticed some lodbias.. I like it when a movie is synced good, goes with the flow, moves from song to song so it's not really noticeable, it gets u! Well the only part that really got me here was the "Psidream - Secret Life" part. The other stuff was not edited really well, but it was worth watching just cause the frags were insane. Also you don't need superleet new never before seen frags to make a good movie, sure it's better but that isn't what makes a good movie good.
