My QuakeLive graphics settings, seem sluggish and not very clear. Has anyone got any good settings that they can suggest? I prefer not a complete .cfg of random seta values. Would appreciate any help, to make it clear vision and performance help.

Vision is subjective. What is more visible to one, is worse to another.

I prefer darkened maps with a bright enemy model but frankly it's not just for visibility. I just don't like the monitor blinding me

yeah some guys prefer a whitewashed bright texture thing with black crosshair, I can't really stomach that.

It's not bad, similar to mine. Maybe try making it a bit lighter overall? Play around with r_mapoverbrightbits / r_mapoverbrightcap.

I also find that adding a non-black skybox (r_fastskycolor) is better, or at least more pleasant.

I gave my keels yellow pants too.

And I don't understand how people like razor thin LG beam, seems so much more intuitive and less distracting when it's a big thicc transparent one. Play with the LG beam style and gun x/y/z positions if you're interested.

play around with the bloom settings and r_bloom cvars

the saturation ones will determine monochrome

Thank you so much that was it, I didn�t realise you could change the colours like that and I thought post process added input lag so never bothered using it. Sorry to bother again but you seem to be quite knowledgable, do you know how to get this look https://youtu.be/jC63pT-t4y4

I think it�s got something to do with r_light map but even in picmip 16 and nearest texture filtering the walls still don�t look as smooth and I can�t figure out what to change next

try:

and then to give it washed out look

r_mapoverbrightbits 10

I still some small shadows around where walls meet the floor in some places, not sure what else is needed to remove that

no idea I'm afraid, but seeing how even the gametype icon next to the scores is fucked up I'd say it's not achieved by conventional means.

still if you just want the enemymodels to be darker you can use a colour like 0x112211FF or whatever

Does anyone have any idea why Quakelive all of a sudden lags for no reason on my system now?

My system is capable of running the newest AAA titles maxed out at a consistent 60fps so Quakelive should be if I wanted to run at 1000+fps but it just stutters like crazy and never holds a consistent 250.

Sometimes the screen itself will stutter and freeze. I've heard of other people encountering a similar problem on high-end rigs so I know that I'm not the only one, just wondering if anyone on here has experienced similar issues and if so have they found a way to rectify the problem?

Actually it's still the same PC, it's just specifically Quakelive not performing like it used to be.

At first, I thought it could've been my computer degrading in performance, but I've had zero issues with every other game I've tried, only Quakelive.

Yeah it's cool, I'm going to reset my config and see if that fixes it, if not then R.I.P to QL.

Mine tends to stutter frame wise from 250fps - downwards to 220 odd. The change is so fast its hard to tell what it goes down to. Not too sure why this happens.

Something that they ruined in QL is that some maps look too bright or too dark when using overbrightbits 250 to get the nice classic Q3 low res look.
