about the state of quake. i myself haven't played any in a year or two. tho i miss it, anything else but the lowest level of casual involvement is a waste of time.

and it has not degressed linearly by any means. things came up, things popped out of the ground, like dubai ql tourney, or italian lan from stermz or whatnot. from all this community we had, nobody made a decent enough amount of money to just charter a spot and space at some decent lan event, and put up 20k, or even talk to sponsors asking to add. weaksauce. don't forget where you came from. lets have goals!

I do recommend draft cups for people like us. Play a few games over the years, sign up one Sunday and spend a whole afternoon playing actual Quake, to me that's casual :) Be prepared for Russian streamers commenting on your sensitivity because you had no idea how to set anything up after playing QC for 3 years (speaking from experience ;))!

(If you wanted TRV CASUAL, you'd play Fortnite, right?)

Havent played/followed TDM in years, but from the looks of it:

Scandinavia looks like the favourite, Ukraine looks decent. Austria could be a great underdog. Sweden and Hungary could deliver some decent raging/drama. Gonna root for Poland tho, hope they take it serious. And... Where the fuck is Russia? That does taint the cup hard, u cant have Quake cups without inviting one of the best talent pool (I blame doz3r, hes a noob in pretty much everything, so it must be his fault)

Starting late September makes sense - people need to return from their vacations.

But ending signups in June when no match is to be played for another 3 months is silly. Or maybe it's on purpose - previous HoQ seasons had the teams dissolving mid-season, so now they're counting on them dropping before the schedule is published. I can see the logic behind this :)

(Allowing merc teams in a Nations Cup is stupid anyways - if there's not enough of actual nations teams, stay with normal clan cups / pickup team show cups... QW had to do this for the last 20 years and are still going, what we see here is still the "denial" stage ;))
