Isn't QL dead rn?

Wish they brought it back to the browser ngl

Computers and browsers are advanced enough to run this thing without any plugins. I mean, I am sure someone has already done Quake 3 in WebAssembly but I haven't tried any 'port' yet.

They could do so much with QL but they refuse to sabotage it because they are scared the numbers show people would rather play QL than QC.

They could make a gold edition and let them run in parallel to each other. I don’t think they are getting in each others way. QC is different with it’s champions.

Yeah but they see it as competition. They are scared that more people play QL and then they would be exposed by still holding QL tournaments in QuakeCon instead of QC.

In my opinion, i don’t think that they fear that QL could be more popular than QC. The QPL ensures that QC is more popular. I think they just do not want to invest more resources.

Btw. here some people are hearing that Hugo Martin is saying that they want to reboot Quake.

Im not sure. However I was never into Quake 1 really. It was too brown and the multiplayer wasn't as good as Q3.

Yeah right, maybe after a successful reboot of Quake 1 they will create QC 2

Maybe when they do QC 2 they do Q3 Gold. But now that they do Q1 which even has a multiplayer. I don’t know what they are doing. Is the Q1 reboot the successor of QC then? In the QPL? Or will it be like casual we don’t care multiplayer? Like in Doom 2016

Speaking on the latest episode of the XboxEra podcast, Shpeshal Nick, co-founder of XboxEra, revealed that a reboot of the now-classic first-person shooter series is currently in the works by id Software, with Wolfenstein developer MachineGames helping. According to Shpeshal Nick, the game will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes, and the main character will be a woman.

While Shpeshal Nick may not be as known as other insiders, he did reveal correct information regarding a variety of games, including Hades coming to Xbox Game Pass this year and the PlayStation Plus April game lineup, so there may be some truth in what he has revealed on the Quake reboot.

It will be a Q1 reboot not a Q3 reboot.

Duel in Europe is pretty alive. It takes not long to find a game. Way way faster than in Diabotical which is a new game.

I had the opposite experience. Yes you can get a duel in the evening rather quickly, but it's always the same 10 ppl in your elo range. I played for two weeks or so and got bored. QC duel is way bigger, no comparison.

QC is a different game. If you are looking for the Q3 experience then there is only QL. And it’s pretty much acceptable. I did not play for only a week but for one year plus. People come and go and you not just only play your own skill but also above and below which i find very much fun.

Tbh now it's even worse. I've been checking it yesterday evening for few hours and there was like 8 players in whole eu without russia (ping). They only way to get a duel is join some server, and wait 5 mins average for your place (ofc only ztn is played). Maybe it will be better on weekend, I need few duels to warmup for next week.

It feels like one of these super niche games where you've got super tight community and need to know everyone to even get games and sit at your pc whole evening to find someone available. No thanks, For my availability nowadays only qc is active enough to play duels. Other gametypes are ok in ql/q3/dbt etc.

I don't care much about "q3 experience" I just want it to feel like quake and for my skills to transfer. I played ql actively maybe for 3-4 years total over the years, not ever gonna be at my peak and improving again because the game is very demanding in terms of how much time you need to put into practice so this motivation is out. Other than that, just playing for fun - after this much time it feels kinda boring to me. Was glad to play something different like qc/dbt.

Well, actually the only way to get this nice feeling of improvement with limited time for me is to play new games/gametypes and I try this from time to time actually.
I meant it for q3/ql duel specifically, can't put enough hours in to get back to old skills there, always feels like I'm playing badly compared to what I could do if I had time to put all pieces back together.

This is not the unique players. This is the average concurrent players. As you can imagine, not everybody plays 24/7.
