Check out photos and reports from what was, at the time, Switzerland's largest ever PC gaming gathering, "SwissCon '97," held in Basel, Switzerland, December 1997:
Eh, you're not missing too much. First three german paragraphs are a bit of hype and details for participants, like "please make sure your computer has a network card; you can buy one for 40 CHF on the venue", "have your quake config with you", "make sure your PC is free of viruses" etc.
They write in the beginning paragraph that there's gonna be 200 players at this Con.
The TUG @ SwissCon97 report is not too spectacular either. First four paragraphs is just about them getting to the hostel/venue. Then it's paragraphs along the lines of "we fragged till midnight, went to bed and in the morning we took breakfast at 09:30 and fragged some more but there were organisational issues so we could not frag for a few hours". There were apparently 4on4 Deathmatch clangames, 1on1 and 2on2 were canceled (?). {tug}'s specialty was apparently Team Fortress, and they did well in most of their matches, since they apparently won the tournament (I think). Prices were copies of Q2, Hexen2 and one copy of Q1, which the author mentions is weird, because everyone is expected to already have that.
Quite a few names are being mentioned.
