I don't think anybody who plays any Quake more than just some games to test it out is afraid of losing. We were all complete noobs once and got stomped most of the time for a long time, and it took a lot of work with often/mostly one-sidedly lost games until anybody got anywhere in Quake... No matter which Quake you started with and no matter where your peak was/is.

It's more like, once you fall in love with a hobby (and let's be honest, either you choose Quake as a hobby or you'll stop playing soon enough) you don't want to give it up, even if there is a similar and more popular, yet watered down and just straight-up worse alternative.

People who play QC: 1) Pros and semi-pros going for the money. 2) People blindly following the momentarily more popular game. 3) New players who only got to Quake due to the media presence of QC right now.

The rest (as well as me, personally) are not convinced by "Well the game has successively getting better and by now is a pretty fine game." because if you love Quake Live for what it is, then you'll never equally enjoy a game that alters the core concepts and strengths in defective ways (E.g. 1) Overcharge item mechanics making it close to impossible to deny map to opponent. 2) Same item times for everything, making it unnecessary to juggle the times while also maintaining map control and map awareness. 3) Tossing out the mirrored playing field for stupid movement/ability/stack meta. 4. Strategy of a game seriously compromised by three frag round limits... I could go on, but these were just supposed to be examples.)

Í think it depends on wether this one will be a success. I wouldn't be suprised if the 125fps organizers are bored of QC like many of its players. For sure is they have a passion for QL.

all i know at this moment, that Madball & Zanzan might participate. also it looks like Agent is also interested as he made a post about this cup in his VK group.

Someone should tweet/fb cypher, strenx etc. I know they are focused on cheese right now but this is good cheese for a few hours of duels ! Also it upsets me that evil has no tracked duels for a long time on qlstats (( was watching a POV demo of him earlier and his aim is beautiful
