If you use someone elses music in your works (as you did), you have to pay them for their work (unless they allowed you to use it for free). On Youtube, you basically pay be allowing ads to be displays in videos containing any copyrighted music, the ad revenue is used as a fee. A service called GEMA is used to collect all those fees and distribute it among artists, but they get a lot of shit on how they work and those claims are not completly wrong, its often very non-sensical. I heard that they wanted to get fees from an artists who wanted to play his own music on a concert...
But in this case, Google and GEMA have failed to come to an agreement for years. Basically, Google wants to pay a flat fee (which is cheaper for them) and GEMA wants pays per view. Funny though the GEMA was able to get agreements with all other major streaming platforms, but not with Google. The GEMA is often blamed for the situation (also fuled by some old signs by Google indicating it, which was not true and they had to change them by court order), but I think here both the GEMA and Google are responsible for the mess and not willing to work through it because of money.

Interesting. I actually put a lot of time and effort in to choosing music that would be safe to use for all countries. I actually went through five different edits to different sound tracks testing them on private uploads. Eventually I found the YouTube music library which allows you to search for ad supported music. I did this for all the tracks but apparently the version of 'stan bush - the touch' I used was a remix and not the original (the original is ad supported and allowed in Germany) so yeah, it's a little annoying how a remix can be disallowed.

I think Grrd's post on 4sg is something to really think about if you want to continue making movies, and there's not much more I can say.

To be honest... After seeing movies like Mercurial, the outings starring ahxnxa or Vo0 and first and foremost the gaiia movie, I'm not sure I can ever watch another Q3-related movie again and really enjoy it.

After reading your post I watched that gaiia movie. Amazing flick rails, quad runs and flag runs. Didn't care much for the cartoon like config in a movie but it was still quite entertaining.

People are bad at giving 1-10 ratings, while they are pretty capable at giving good/bad ratings. You can observe this phenomenon while comparing imdb ratings to rotten tomatoes ratings

Don't mind the 0's Storm .. I think all efforts to offer fragmovies are great. Of course some are better than others and some use special effects to switch from one frag to another.

But regardless, I don't think any of the 0's are justified.

Start working on the next one for us :)
