UT99, gitzzz indeed. His hitscan aim was scary to watch back in 2001. One thing I will remember was destrukt raping most top europeans on 150 ping. Yes that's dkt, the Quake player who's been a top 10 dueller when he was active. I remember and he beat me on 140 ping or something like that. Had a 3-1 lead but got too nervous I guess :)
I don't go to music forums. No one has been able to show or teach me anything new in years. MA is riddled with trve kvlt atmosblacking kiddies releasing their next grim and daring demo tape. What a boring genre to be an elitist about. At least Arena FPS has an argument.
No one has been able to show or teach me anything new in years.
That's kind of arrogant. You should always be able to absorb points from people who listen to metal as much as you do. If you don't, it means you're not finding much new to appreciate, which you should.
I've explored all roads of music to their conclusion, or can see where the roads need to go to reach their conclusion. The only things new for me are anticipated releases. Working in a wood shop 8-12 hours a day for 6 years can really get you through a lot of music.
m1no lol facepalm not even close
GitZzz,skAven being the most natural aimers and overall complete players in other aspects.
ScrMz- the most arcade and agressive style, and whats important being able to win some titles that way.
Frantic-somewhere close to him with that fragpower
ZeD- prolly the best tdmer, atleast aimwise.with those great hitscans
Hypno-if we are talkin about UT3 as the winner of the biggest cash prize
astz-most overrated player ever. Wonder why ppl tend to mention him while not ever winning any major event or showing some extraordinar weapon skill or smth compared to other players..
Those are all pretty new school players except for Gitz, . I think you need to look further back at results, you didn't even include lauke! :) I agree those are great UT2004 players, but none of them won major events, except for Gitz and scrmz. Hypno in UT3. I've won as much or more than all the others on the list, in my defence! I won a shit ton of online tournaments and finished in the top 2, top 4 of international LANS (WCG Europe, Digital Life, EuroCup LAN etc). I've often been expected to win the big ones or at least challenge, but never managed to win an ESWC, WCG, or similiar title. That's my biggest regret and biggest criticism.
Regarding me, that's your opinion - no worries. :)
The best ever UT players for me are gitz and lauke, but there are a whole host of players I can mention from each title in the series who have either had their moment or shown consistently high levels of skill. The best one in the last couple of years would be skaven, before him scrmz and so on. With a bunch of players hovering around the same level it's quite hard to pinpoint an exact hierarchy, much easier to stick people in groups. I might write out a fuller list later, maybe even make a column about it!
Yeah I think he got famous from the same tournament that Burnie won, can't remember exactly. He was extremely defensive! Nice aim, lg/flak and backwards movement. If I remember correctly! :)
Yeah man, I have the same picture here about this fellah. Did you stop playing UT? or not? Sometimes I chat with Hypno, he participated in a "pre-alpha UT4 presentation" this weekend in Portugal I believe.
I played a bit this year, but right now I don't and haven't for a month or two. I seen hypno post on facebook about that! I think UT4 is another great opportunity for him, since it seems very like UT3. I like what I have seen so far, definitely going to TRY and compete in it if things work out. I love my UT!! :)
Better luck for you then, Mr Astz! I hope I get along with UT4 cuz I feel the lack of participating in such a great gameplay! We hope UT4 shows up to the up-coming big tournaments!
The best is GitzZz. Those hypotheticals of could an in-prime ScrMz beat him are irrelevant. GitzZz won the biggest tournaments in the games history, repeatedly.
lauke is #2 on my list & a lot of the big tournaments proved he was 2nd best to GitzZz. lauke is a lot like Ronaldo from a few years ago...people saying how unlucky he was to be around at the same time as Messi. If GitzZz wasn't around then how many tournaments would lauke have won instead.
The rest aren't in any real order & don't warrant being ordered (greatest already answered). The rest:
old school winners Burnie - WCG 2004 (2nd), ESWC 2004 (1st) -- why did he leave so suddenly? Forrest - WCG 2003 (1st), ESWC 2004 (4th) winz - ESWC 2005 (1st) -- turns up to UT, wins, leaves...a bit embarrassing really Falcon - ESWC 2005 (2nd), WCG SEC 2005 (2nd) DevilMC - WCG SEC 2005 (1st) and this frag movie I thought was cool & he was in some other clip I can't find (about Italian qualifiers iirc)
good but no significant wins ScrMz - would have liked to see in majors against GitzZz/lauke skAven - would have liked to see in majors against GitzZz/lauke kiLLu killzA
Other notables = frantic, daddy, po1son, astz, gohlink
Having said all that the people that really drew me in to watching matches on UTV/streams were seeing hypno & chip.mask
Favourite UT2004 1v1 moments
ESWC 2004: Burnie vs GitzZz on DM-Rankin...dat shieldgun jump kiLLu vs th0r game on DM-Roughinery (first demo that really got me interested in demos)
zulg's playing style was so creative and dynamic at that time, it rocked, you can't say there werent any other fantastic agressive players though :) for me lauke had a great playing style, even tho he needed to be defensive sometimes. Back then in 2002 a portuguese player called |P|Sp3llCast3r was an inspiration for me, this guy could pull frags with the ripper and the most weird weapon combination ever. Unpredictable as fuck :)
I'm also a +back hater.. actually I played yesterday a guy in UT4 that played 15mins +back, even when in control.. I don't understand how people don't get bothered, especially when there's nothing at stake.
i just watched the vod of raptor on YT, i loled on the fact that he wasn't not even trying to hide his cheat especially on that fight at the mini-shield area where he uses the assault rifle
i believe the game was played on lan, how come they didn't officiate the cup properly? or was the tournament played only at the byoc area (i believe that's always the case concerning lan parties)
