I'm glad those questions were asked and I'm pleasantly surprised to see they are very aware of what kind of features the game needs in order to be successful.

They have been doing close to everything right so far imo.

The main thing they haven't done right is the movement. Clumsy, jerky, limited, slow, boring, etc. Quake ruined shit games like Unreal Tournament for me.

They could be better according to us, Quakers, but that's entirely subjective.

I didn't mind UT2004 movements, them being easy to master let me focus on other aspects of the game and quite frankly on a competitive level the movements on Quake don't matter anymore as everyone knows how to move well enough.
They are not a factor anymore and therefore make their complexity futile and prevent newcomers from being good faster.

I would go as far as saying Quake movements while enjoyable aren't the asset Quakers think it is.. to the success of the game I mean.

The movements they are going for on UT4 could be made a bit more complex to allow for more moves around the map, I never really liked UT99's movements that are too simple and linear.

point is people like fast movements, when i play cs or l4d i always find myself trying to bunny hop :(

UT movements are unnatural and not realy fun. there is no dynamic in it.

anyway the real question is what are their real goal with this UT 4, seeing that only UT99 was a real success, UT2k3 was mediocre at best, ut2k4 idem, ut3 was a giant failure tbh it looked like a console game engine and gameplay wise.

As many of us already said (i think) ut4 might just be an engine show. ie multi platform programation friendly etc. showcasing new effects and some other usual bullshit noone cares about when a new engine comes out.

I am yet to see an alternative to the usual quake movements other than CPM which is exactly the same with 100% aircontrol dumbed down dynamic.

The key word with movement is DYNAMIC, player must feel the mouse motion adds to the dynamism of the movement.

I appreciate other takes on the arena shooter and glad UT exist. But that movement just isn't for me.

Some words about Castle map, there a lot of defrag on it its cool but:
1) DD room is sux - you can eat so mutch spam when you try to take DD, so its dead DD or 1 mate need to pull it out.
2) Its needed to put something important on well
It is so cool that they did this some kind of show every week!!!
