i wonder if everyone would stop playing quake right now. would there still be esr and for how long? another question: if esr was removed from the web would it have a relevant impact on the quake community?
I have the exact google analytics stats since the time we moved away from HEXUS, and it's been going up on average, until recently. It has little to do with 'google trends'.
Well shit, i suppose we all need to step up our games (or face it?) if we're going to keep life going in the esREALity world. Quick, zhu, post something nonsensical but infinitely more passionate than anything ever done ever! Hitsu, say something dumb about lifting! Jamerio, find that goddamn keyboard and type something meaningful! Jamalz...be black! Sophia, get well soon! Quake Is Potat, Sonic, and all you other gif-whores, make more gifs before we die! And for the love of God, say something mean, Vig1lante!
Quake is the main problem with ESR. It's ancient, it never receives major updates or changes, most of its users are European, it is insular and isolated, its community is poor at business, it increasingly becomes totalitarian, it suffers from delusions of perfection, and its administrators ban contributors who follow the rules. If you can't tell whether i'm talking about ESR or Quake, it's because there is no difference between them. What we need is an alternative.
If someone could build a ESR site that is attractive to people outside of Europe, it could help bring the kind of diversity missing from the world of ESR. It could represent something new, progressive, inviting, and encouraging of participation from all people. Pretty much the exact opposite of Quake.
You might think other websites died off because ESR died off, but maybe that isn't really true. Regardless, the convergence of people from other ESR sites to Quake did mark the beginning of a major shift from progress to stagnation. Maybe though, those sites died for other reasons, and a competing ESR site could be perfectly functional. Breaking apart the critical-mass monopoly that is Quake, given the regressive effect it has on ESR, would potentially serve as the solution this game needs.
I don't know if i'll be able to continue supporting Quake. I know you're a bunch of ungrateful cocksuckers, but guess what... I don't get paid to contribute content here. I've never liked Quake, and without large-scale changes to the system, I never will. I only come here to support ESR, and i've come to the conclusion that by supporting Quake, I am destroying ESR.
Huge egos prancing around like bunnies feeling like theyre the shit and actually causing the demise of the beloved elite game they preach about ,a broken mechanic that made the game a high skill game actually ruins it ever getting big it should be log in and shoot bitches not log in get raped for a year while having to learn all kinds of things and maybe get somewere and with a community like this nothing will change ,such a bunch of unbelievable cunts , that treat newbies like shit .

it's funny that you consider site which is frequented by maybe 10% of overall number of players as a nail in the coffin for milion selling franchise, get a fucking clue
(I bet that both in QL, and Q3 heyday the percentage was even smaller)
only people that are responsible for state of the game are id managers that made minimal amount of effort to keep it relevant multiplayer platform, in 1999 - 2014
edit : fuck, just now I looked at post date, whatever anyways
one simple question - what does it have to do with my point?
if id's best game got ruined by a site that peaked with around 1k users online, then they really deserve to be closed by betheseda

you've claimed that i hold some consideration that i do not, and rudely demanded that i get a clue. i have offered two links for your contextual enlightenment. if, at this point, you refuse to understand, or are incapable of understanding, the humorous relationship between the original posts and these copied & pasted posts, it is out of my control.
i hope that you will see and accept that your ignorance has fueled your foolish display of brazen brashness, regardless of whether or not you choose to show due humility through the proffering of a suitable apology. what is most important in these situations is that you possess the integrity of character to recognize your poor behavior and feel adequately abashed so as to develop a lingering desire to avoid such embarrassing mistakes in the future.
