Amiga was awesome! Deluxe paint, shadow of the beast 1/2, countless fun little apps. I even used lightwave 3d a bit.
I'm very fortunate that I grew up with Amiga, and also NES was my first gaming console.
It's kind of funny because I wasn't really aware of gaming consoles at all, so when I got a NES for xmas I was kind of confused and didn't know what to expect. Needless to say, I was very, very impressed.
Well a lot of the ESR community won't "qualify" for this link simply due to age, a factor beyond anyone's control.
That said, I'm lucky enough(lol) to have owned a Commodore 64 and played Temple of Apshai on the cassette drive, played Tank Wars on the 2600(the Sears version, not the Atari one) and later got the Colecovision system with that amazing grip joystick -- brightly colored finger buttons topped off with an oversized red controller ball.
p.s. My "AHHHH!" moments in order: Seeing the graphical upgrades of Mario from NES>SuperNES and finally in mind-boggling 3D on that beautiful N64 system(Turok N64 forever).
Got a Centris 650 with the 300 CD drive after college(with college discount)...first game was Myst. They sent me a patch floppy disk(2.4mb) for a bug in the game. I LOVED Myst.
p.s. That Quadra 800 was beastly expensive but magnitudes above anything else in terms of cpu power. Back when the Motorola 6800 series was king.

WOW!! Yea I remember that cardboard box with the distinctive Apple Adjustable Keyboard graphics! The detachable numerical keypad had an enormous palm rest that came with it. That board was so ahead of its time. I'm not sure if I still have it.
Apple boxing and packaging was a design art onto itself.
my uncle bought this for me when i was 8, for nes. i played this game more than i played legend of zelda 2. i didn't beat it then, for some reason (i remember it being really hard). came back a few years ago and beat it using emulator. i think i ruined my childhood by realizing how easy it is now and how pathetically awful i am at video games. a couple other games i spent a lot of time on around that time in my life were guardian legend (awesome music), xenophobia, and the mega man games.
another game that friends had that i loved to play was r.c. pro-am.
Yea. I had similar experience with this game. I remember it being so hard. I don't even know if I managed to complete half of it. I would like to go back to it, but I'm afraid this may bring back all the nerves it involved :).
but.... AMIGA MASTER RACE!!! console peasants!
Had an Amiga 500+ in 1988 and we had an Oric 1 before that.
Bad influence was far superior to Games Master, the former having a lot more information whilst the latter was based more on the challenges to showcase the games.
Cartridges definitely are, they more or less gave up on pirating N64 games in Kuwait.
Due to the popularity of the PSX and how easy it was to pirate games for it, N64 games were expensive about 100$ back when the N64 was new, in comparison to non-pirated PSX games which were anywhere between 40-60$, because of the price of the games and how easily the PSX swooped the market the N64 couldn't really get any traction back in Kuwait
I think that console games are toys for kids, and only bearded geek programmers with real computers were able to turn this entertainment crap into true art.
