K glad it's not just me. Hopefully an admin can come up with a fix. Kind of annoying to sift through replies in some of the bigger threads when it takes so long to load.
Loading an ESR thread shouldn't crash my browser (which has happened on several occasions now).
Pagination is only one solution, and isn't necessarily a must, but there should at least be a way to divide the number of replies per thread so that all of that output isn't spat out to the user all in one go.
For instance, look at reddit's approach on how they handle heavy threads.
also, not sure if this matters or is relevant to the admin(s) here, but search engine spiders will have a harder time crawling a webpage that takes forever to load, and will likely just give up, just sayin.
Uh that makes no sense. Pagination is always a good option to have. Not everyone's connection / systems can handle loading all of the output in a thread at one time. Most modern forum software have it by default (xenforo, ipboards, phpbb, etc...), not just big forums like reddit.
Judging from the replies, I'm going to assume most people here have the same backwards mentality. So I ask, what do you all, particularly the admins, have against pagination?
It annoys me to have to check through multiple pages to find all the comments. Particularly on events pages, where I like to read the chronological responses in almost real-time, when following a match or event.
But sure, if you could make in an option, fine by me. Just don't make it default.
