Anyone here (inc you) can influence the hit counters on this site by pressing F5 by a large degree in little time.

I just did a quick test and held down F5 for 5 seconds, in that space I racked up dozens of hits. So it figures I could achieve many more if I held it down, or it got jammed by accident.

Try it for yourself if you will see what I mean.

Strange things happen. Like I said, I can evolve your points, what you're saying is, its impossible for an f5 key to get jammed on a keyboard if it falls behind a desk. Having the thread open is no big deal as it was an active one at the time for me.

My implication was: what is it more sensible to believe: a highly unlikely freak event, or the fact that, being egotisical as you are, you wanted to get hits?

I cannot prove that you did one way or the other, but, until presented with evidence, the occam's razor principle dictates that the simplest and most likely course of events is the one which should be upheld.
