It was 5 years ago, in May 1997 when IBM's Deep Blue Supercomputer played a fascinating match with the reigning World Chess Champion, Garry Kasparov. To make it short, Deep Blue won.

The following 2 weeks the current reigning World Chess Champion, Vladimir Kramnik is facing Deep Fritz, the world's most powerful chess program which is even more advanced than Deep Blue.

Man or machine? Will Kramnik take revenge for the loss of his compatriot five years ago or will brutal computing power win again...

Yesterday, the first game was played and it was a draw (Kramnik played with black pieces).

Fixture will be finished when one of them has enough points to win the series (8 games, last game on 19th october).

Current score: (after game 6)
game 1 - Draw
game 2 - Kramnik wins
game 3 - Kramnik wins
game 4 - Draw
game 5 - Deep Fritz wins
game 6 - Deep Fritz wins
game 7 - Draw
game 8 - Draw

V. Kramnik - 4
Deep Fritz - 4

The Brains in Bahrain Man-Machine match is over and has finished in a 4-4 draw, with two wins each and four draws! Game 8 was the shortest game of the match, a 21-move draw. The World Champion was unable to make any progress against Fritz's solid defense. It was a tremendous result for Fritz, particularly after starting out with only half a point from the first three games. Both sides said they would be happy to play a rematch.
