Afaik good denim brands like N&F produce in their home country (Canada for N&F).

As for H&M, I just look forward to their collabs. To me it's like fast food, and the quality was never present so I just gave up on it.

In EU the trend is increasingly to produce in Romania and such. From China they get a container-shipment per season, and thats it. A container from China to Europe travels more than 30 days. With nearby production they are able to react to trends more easily and produce more or less just in time for stuff that sells, and they can have more stuff in shops within a week if they need it. Zara for example makes everything that they sell in EU in Romania, also H&M has facilities there, and many others too.

I was cheated out of my university degree after three years there. I was also screwed over in other ways.

The way I look at it, a lot of professional life is just like a very lame game where the lamest people who grind all the time on the most boring stuff tend to win. Even worse are the social circles you have to try to circumnavigate. If you have family or friends in the same area you have extraordinary insider knowledge and advantages. Now I know if you are successful it's going to be tempting to buy into the idea that it's all legitimate when it's really just a joke, no fair competition at all.
