It's nice to see a resurgence in the NA CTF scene. I'm looking forward to seeing how Reflux turns out, especially with the reduction to the BS. It was instantly dismissed in Europe so I'm intrigued to see how it'll play out.

good initiative. i hope teams sign up, altho it will be interesting since theres been practically no team action since ages and ages ago.

the one thing im kinda skeptical about is the whole one night cup format. i think for a team cup it might be better off using a league format with one match a week or something similar. gives people a lot more flexibility in terms of scheduling and getting matches played.

Hey wonk0, with my past admin experience with GGL, ESL, and CSN, I can tell you first hand CTF leagues never work in NA. Weaker teams lose interest, drop out or no show and eventually the league crumbles within 3 weeks.

Taking baby steps atm, draft cup, small team cup, and if there's enough proven interest for these events we'll definitely invest the time into a league. If you have any questions/suggestions/concerns or want to help message me on IRC man, thanks.

OK.. GGL ran leagues at a time when private servers were not readily available to everyone and the game was still in beta, and they still had a hell of a lot more activity than anything ESL or CSN ever did.. and I don't think either ever tried a league just a bunch of silly one day things with very poor promotion and administration.. not to mention that ALL THREE OF THOSE WEBSITES WERE FUCKING TERRIBLE AND BARELY FUNCTIONED.

And yea I know ESL/CSN tried duel leagues but fuck duelers :p

w.e this scene is pretty hopeless even if good admins/leagues appeared. Too late and everyone is too busy being total cunts over ping issues around NA. FUCK IT.

well thats what we are trying to do with this team tournament. we want to see if there even are enough teams around so that maybe down the road we can possibly start a league

i understand its fashionable to just accuse people without any proof but thats still taking it a bit too far. still surprised that hes on a squad with them, especially considering it doesnt really look like they need him to be competitive (assuming this ever happens).

A group of hackers can't be competitive, even if NA had a competitive scene. They would never play on lan. I guess if you round up instin, kgb, rapture, and maybe throw viju in there, you could at least have a lolworthy final.

No samer_ and staind never played on LAN. yes I know samer_ went but he didn't compete nor play. You and Avenged sure do play a lot better now then you did at qcon. Doesn't matter id_ is the best CTF player in NA and pretty much roll most of these teams himself or if he cared to put a better team together - the known hackers and the suspected ones. Would love to watch a team with id_, whaz, boodah519 & viju.

we got better because we played. thats it. when u play top tier teams over and over u get better. its that simple. and samer did go. he didnt play in the tournies because he was working with me with ql.tv but we did play at night, on the tourney computers, on online servers, with multiple witnesses behind us and online for that matter. he doesnt play any differently than he does online. none of us do. u kids are on a witch hunt and this shit gets annoying when the accusations have been flying for months. everyone is so worried about everyone else. get over the fact that people are better than you and move on. get better. thats what we did and are still doing.

Yeah your right he played a lot of games @qcon 90% of them from his hotel room. He played badly the games I saw him play he was doing like 20s to low 30s acc wise far cry from his 40-45 lg and 50 rail his rockets are always bad since it's not hitscan and his aimbot can't lead shots for him and he was playing on TX servers with 10ish ping. A vac ban is just that a vac ban for him trying to use a hack of some sort samer steam account and yes it matters it's not like he's going to hack in some games and not others. His whole story about giving someone his config and they used the hack and uploaded the ss to his facebook account which your ql config doesn't store that info is BS.

you do realize that the connection to fb from ql has to be done from the account settings. it doesn't store it in the config.

It sounds like you're setting yourself up for failure. A one day event where you need to have multiple teams of 4 all around at the same time?

A draft league would be easier to run. At least then you'd have flexibility with the rosters and teams would be more even.

dont see why people dont get this. its so much better to run draft leagues. for some reason the na community seems stuck in the one night cup cycle.

Draft leagues are fun and they work, but only because it's a temporary thing.

What I think people desperately want is actual teams. Teams who can scrim and play in leagues and compete in ladders. But of course we already tried that and it didn't work, so one night cups are the next best thing.

one night cups work with 1v1 or 2v2. its really really tough for 4v4 because of the limited time window and the need to coordinate 4+ members to be around for like 6 or 7 hours at a stretch. thats just impractical.

and the reason why leagues with teams/clans dont work in na is cos na ql players are too idiotic to be able to form clans and stick with them.
