No, thank you. This is what QL needs. I spent some time going over these things and here is my 2 cent worth advice.

I think you have a good base. You speak well, look a bit like noctis (:D), and are young. I don't think your skill as a player counts too much now, as long as the subject of your videos matches the right target. This is the best card you should play.

Pick the right topics, things that matters to newbies. Discuss the game, but also the infrastructure (ex: QL ranks, esreality, IRC) and think with their perspective. Talk about the status of the community, warn them about the dangers newbies get into. Not everything has to be your opinion; you can quote good posts or interviews.

Become visible on QL forum, be nice, supportive. Gather friendly positive people around you. Become popular. Maybe contact Evol, and discuss if the two of you can put something together. People get inspired if they see characters they like making things together. Think of ways of letting people participate. Newbies may like the game, but they will like much more a friendly and welcoming environment they can connect to and interact with.

ye, because op for whatever reason at the yellow decided - fuck it I wont kill the guy left with 50hp and instead am gonna be depressed about not getting any items, while in fact I have a higher stack at that point. I think if the guy tried to mg back he would have been dead much faster because its harder to move through the map properly backwards etc :p

I've only dueled on Aero a few times. So, I'm still trying learn the spawns and proper order of items to pick up.

first thing that I noticed: you'll have to improve your circle jump if you want to teach someone else movement.

That is why I haven;t made one yet. :)

Have not watched the whole dm6 duel yet, but I will say that when you get that initial spawn in bridge stairs and rush straight to RL you should try to do damage on mega before going back for red. In most cases, the other guy will have spawned at LG and you have a shot at getting a decent rocket or two in. Sometimes you get lucky and he spawns at YA jumppad, in which case you can rush to RL, drop for mega while spamming the entryway with rockets, then turn and go back for RA without taking any damage.

Regardless of how you work it, you run almost 0 risk of losing RA by leaving it there to check on mega first. Even if he rushes for RA after getting mega health, you have much better positioning on it. Most players will just back out and go grab the yellow anyway.

I've played everybodypoops. If I remember correctly he was hogging all the powerups and weapons? I'd spawn and he'd take everything!

Why would you doubt it? It split the community before. Even VQ3 in OSP and CPMA caused a split, and it was fundamentally the same thing!

To say that it wouldn't split the community makes no sense, as it DID split the community.

It would just cause another fracture - there are still people who wouldn't make the switch from OSP, and still people who play CPMA VQ3. Even with CPM support, there would still be CPM players who refused to make the switch, so you'd just be hurting CPM, while giving QL players more things to argue about. Urban Terror would probably be the only mod worth moving over.

You're now trying to make a specific argument that he's not good enough to teach duel, yet admit that for what he's doing (teaching noobs, new players to duel), that "its' fine".

Your problem consists with the fact that OVERALL, he is NOT below average. In duel, good players can look like noobs to the elite few who dominate that gametype, but to say he's below average based on his results in other gametypes shows a complete lack of knowledge on the real playerbase and what most people play like. You probably only hang out with top players who hit every shot, so the moment someone misses you think its' a below average player. In reality, most people aren't hitting 60 percent rail or 40% lg. They are generally doing far worse than prettyawesome here.

i don't honestly think anything other than "he's pretty good". You can asume to know what level "pretty good" is. Its' all subjective. To me, pretty good is someone who can hold his own in a ctf game without getting spanked by better players. If there were 4 tiers, 1) being terribad and 4) being elite, then he's not 2) average, but 3) pretty good.

1) you primarily play ca
2) you play on diff servers (west coast)
3) you play mostly space ctf (when playing ctf)

you cannot compare fps games with strategy games e.g. sc, wc3 etc. The latter always has and always will have a higher player count because their learning curve isn't that steep (plus battlenet is pretty awesome and has always worked well for blizzard)

Who cares if he's not a top player, or even well above average? He's trying to do something constructive and if you're just entering quake with no experience these videos might do you some good.

When you hear something like Rapha's commentary talking about how mindful he is of the timings of all four items on lost world, it's not something you'll be able to keep up with as a beginner.

Everyone has to start somewhere, whether it's a new player just getting into the game and learning movement and timing, or someone making decent how-to videos as they build up their skill. Just chill out, there's no reason to start talking about how badly you'd beat him. If you can do better than do it, but don't talk shit when the guy in question isn't claiming to be the next best thing.
