O good, have i missed it? That Ger v Pol match was nuts with the server switching... Surely ther should be some server software to make everyone's ping equal to the highest!! Too much to ask i'm sure.

More people play CA on Quakelive than TDM, CTF & Duel combined.

If you take away the apes there is not much left. Just compare the activity of ca/tdm/ctf pickup channels and cups.

CA is for the casual player like myself who is not interested in the competitive 'semi-pro/pro' scene. Pickup channel for CA is not really necessary because it is very easy to get a game at any time of the day, even on premium maps.

Due to its more casual nature cups & leagues are not popular in CA and tbh CA is not very good when played in clans anyway as it leads to far more camp & spam than public servers. That being said if there was some form of cup/league/ladder integrated into Quakelive I am sure a competitive CA scene would thrive like it used to in RA3.

CA is starting to get unplayable apart from pickups after the change which put everybody in tier 4. Morans hiding all rounds instead of +fwd. :<

Have to hide when you have players who seem to struggle with the layout of even DM6.

How woud you suggest to fix it to counter +backers? I see the +forward advantages but to the nub I see their advantage of having +back..

I blame lack of air movement and rocket speed and splash radius damage. Increasing these both slightly would give the +forward player more control in attacking and avoiding +backers. Creating a more positive game imho.

I quite like the game as it is now, I don't think gameplay changes are necessary. Some people have been in favour of slightly slower rockets and a smaller splash radius, which could work I guess.

The only thing that can be done to change this is proper tier segregation and proper maps. Perhaps my ideas towards CA differ from the norm, but I prefer it to be fast and intense combat, rinse and repeat. Of course, I enjoy the occasional 1v4 +b game if I manage to miraculously get away from an uneven skirmish, but it's not like I set up for that (which seems to be the preferred gamestyle for many people). Not even talking about the people in tier 4 who don't know the maps.

Yeah I agree with the tiers for sure, need it properly configured.

The rocket is so crap atm. Making it smaller splash radius is good, but the demage cuased has to increase, plus the kick from the splash. More kick off the damage would make for more entertaining for switch weapon combos. Plus a way to escape if needed.

The rocket as it is now, spashes you from miles, yet the attacker thinks he is doing well using it, only to find out he has been doing shite all damage.

I also say more kick force on the LG, so in ground level lg battles there is a definate propulsion. You would definately knowif someone was LG'ing u in the back this way, as you would move. This would also aid escape in certain circumstance.

I dont agree that the rockets would be "stronger"(not sure of your meaning). We said above to reduce the splash radius, but increase the damage. This would reward using them correctly, hence making them weaker, unless properly used, which will make them more effective. Surely they need to have more kick back, as so many times, you get hit with a direct rocket to remain standing still....

People coming up behind you and firing rockets at your back pure sucks, especially as you have no idea where the fuck it is coming from, as there is "No real significant kick back to work out where it is coming from". Let alone realising that someone is attacking you from the rear. Before you can do much you are looking back up at your corpse.

Same goes for rockets hitting close in the splash damage area, not to be kicked that much and be nearly in the same positon.

Keep your ass where it's safe. You might have noticed that some players are extremely hard to catch out because they position themselves so well and always got an exit route.

So we all have to get our asses to the wall or in an area which we know is safeish? I think this is where I am finding it difficult to adapt to this slower type ideas with a potential +back plan.

Coming from QW ctf where it was 8v8, I could go into base and take out 4 people with RL and LG, and return with flag killing some on the way. It is difficult to think know that with same weapons and situation I would have to stalk it in..

I think if it is important to have ur ass against the wall or have an exit route this can make the game static. Alternatively if you know where the damage is coming from and get a kick big enough to move you in the direction of the projectile then this would make the game more fluid. I think the kick of weapons should be proportionate to the damage given. Or is it already?

It's more like not standing in places where you can get hit by easy rails and maintaining positional advantage against your opponents. This frequently implies movement.

With bigger knockback the bounce will be stronger, so even rockets which are not dead-on will totally mess up your opponent's dodging. Hence, they will be even stronger than they are now (and I think they are dominant enough).

See I go the other way, I see more advantages. The rockets are only dominant because this is Quake series... Iti s also the size of the current splash radius and the lack of kick.

Yes Rockets arn't the only weapon, but why should they cuase so much wide area splash damage, espeically in CA where it just creates a spam and camp ethos.

Rockets should be rewarded for being well placed, with smaller splash, in turn creating bigger damage for a smaller area, and more kick. Emphasis on rewarded for accuracy, not spam...

This new CA on CTF maps is a nice idea, BUT, make it more exciting, keep the flags.

Cap the flag and round win, all wining team get 5 points, and 10 to capper.
No cap,last man standing - no cap points round end.(OR give a certain amount of time for last man to have a chance of RJ'ing to get flag and back to cap, Like 15-20 secs for bonus points)

To stop it being campy, flag runner get double CA damage points. (Incentive to get flag) ( I can see a few well placed team rockets to get the flag for yourself lol)

Negative points for hiding/camp points when someone stands too long in one spot!
