Event: QC'11

The QuakeCon staff finally released the list of the invitations for the Intel� QUAKE LIVE Duel Invitational Masters tournament to be played at QuakeCon 2011. The number of invitations was increased from 16 players to 24 players.

Duel invitations

The TDM invitations should be released very soon�. All the rules are now available.

What will you remember better when you became 60 years old man? Amazing trip to USA to play game what is huge part of your life or one of many passed exams? I'm sure there is always a chance to have another date to take exams. Image world class soccer player that can't play for his national team in World Cup Grand final because he has some exams. Doesn't it sounds stupid? The only difference is that there's no cash behind Quake.

I am not against people fighting for their dream. I, too, have been to Dreamhack and I made a big minus but I always wanted to do it, so I did. But sometimes you have to outweight what is more important - in my opionion he could have more easily attended Dreamhack or other small tournaments with the same amount of players being there.

However, I assume that QCON still holds the biggest "prestige"?

Also: Dandaking has already been to QCON and other various tournaments. He already proved he can stirr up the top 5. What I said generally applies to people who have never attended big lans.

it's not that he didn't want to go. He actually planned on taking his girlfriend for a holiday to America and go for a few weeks. But instead he got really sick missed his university exams and got stuck re-sitting them in august when Quakecon was on. Never the less it's Ventz and zlr's time to prove themselves on the big stage

This was just a last minute semi-fix for just one of many retarded decisions. We should not suddenly forget things like the announcement was too late so many TDM teams were not able to come, or that he caused that huge negative reaction from community in the first place by making duel tournament restricted to 16 players.

Where have i read this before? Or even better, how many times? You cant kill love, and thats the relationship you aquire when you delve into it enough to become attached. You go versus the players, and you had many opportunities where, with more or less justification, you /quited. Yep, it's pretty sad. The difference between Q3 and QL is that Q3 in its prime had lots of open tournaments which spawned many newcomers. Say what you want about the CPL; it was much more interesting than all these stale invitationals that have become the norm since the inception of QL. At least Quakecon was different.

great list. imagine some cooller-zero4 games for old times sake, or some zero4-strenx, where strenx loses (unlikely ofc, but still) and starts to whine, then zero4 smack talks him to the ground "that's how you do it" ^^
well you could look at this, considering all the talk about the supposed end of quake as we know it, I say you could look at this as a closing, epic battle between the old and the new (cooller-even tho he was active in ql, czm, zero4, tox, chaoticz and on the other hand guys like strenx, rapha, avek, cypher, dahang etc) . and what better setting than quakecon, the symbol of competitive quake. however, another quake symbol is sadly missing now, ztn... gtfo with hektik and toxicity, how can u leave out the best quake duel map ever (at best, dm6 can equal ztn in duel, but not overtake it in terms of epicness)!!!

Yeah! i was hoping they open the slots to 32... but they opened it to 24, so a lot of good players were left out, and with the announce of the invitations other ppls lose all hope to participate...
Btw id announces one week ago the registration goes from 15 to 31 and they closed it now :S...

he wanted to play with strenx, he said that in his interview and strenx even accepted. cypher has no idea how to play tdm and doesnt know any map. his skill in single wont help him much in tdm. but if there will be no one to take i think he can join.

But Dahang's online play is a world apart from his LAN play. So many people have beaten him or taken games from him online, people who would probably get swept 2-0 on LAN.

think about rules
think about signups
times
maybe even make 2 divs (midskillers, noobies)

As for 2divs, I doubt there would be that many signups, but I don't really know. Rules would be easy, so would maps. All I would have to do is make a ESR topic and a QL topic, and mention it on IRC.
