Obviously tastes differ, I found Martyrs disturbing and the core concept interesting. Gore doesn't really have any impact on me anymore so that part had nothing to do with my listing it.

List what you would consider good horror films, I'm always looking for more though I have probably seen the ones you will list.

the concept of enlightenment trough torture is retarded in itself but the whole pace of the movie is crap, it's mostly gore/shock but not in a suspense/scary kind of way.
I'm not much of a horror fan mostly because the genre is so cliched and predictable that it has no appeal for me and the so called "indie" a la blair witch /paranormal is just laughable. back in the day I liked Nightwatch, Silence of the Lambs, 8mm wasn't too bad, Aliens1,2,Predator... can't really think of any others.

i wouldn't say it was gory at all, but same, didnt find it too entertaining. it might've been a bit creepy if it was a true documentary, but being fiction it was pretty weak.

Yeah those eye witness scenes annoyed me most, there just were not very believable, with some major flaws also. The killer tapes weren't half bad, just the whole setup of the movie did not convince me. blairwitch did, as some others

didnt really like it (martyrs were also rather letdown after what ive heard).. im not much of a fan of this docutype horror genre.. its been a long time i actually saw a good horror flick and i am/was an avid fan as well but it seems it just dried up so i kinda strayed away from it.. there were times i even watched carver or summer school which are just horrible c grade "fan" projects
last ones i somehow enjoyed were sauna, eden lake and trick'r'treat (which isnt really a horror per se)
and before that el orfanato, storm warning (nice work with cliches) and ils.. my favorite from the past decade is still 8 years old dead end

Event Horizon was outstanding imo. I liked blairwich very much as it was groundbraking at the time. flatliners I liked as well.

A lot of me liking those movies comes from the fact I watched them as a kid :) But I think they are way more entertaining then most of the horror movies I have watched, while 'horror' as genre is a stretch for these movies I know.

Oh I like evil dead as well, also not so much horror as...dunno something else. I guess I don't like classic horror...

yea, maybe. i remember the hype surrounding blairwitch, even the cinema was decorated in style :p event horizon scared the shit out of me, but both weren't good movies tbh.
i always felt flatliners was more of a joke than a serious movie - but i watched that one when it was on tv, not in a cinema.

the whole concept was stolen from cannibal holocaust which was by far the superior movie.
