Major League Gaming's DC event is here featuring an impressive lineup for it's second Starcraft 2 tournament.

MLG Raleigh champion

TL.HuK is here to defend his title, along with several other players from Raleigh including

root.KiWiKaKi,

EG.LzGaMeR,

root.qxc,

TL.Tyler (NonY),

EG.Machine,

fnatic.TTOne, and

EG.iNcontroL. Three first-time MLG players who look to do well are

EG.IdrA who's here before he starts GSL Season 2, and

White-Ra &

TL.ret to represent Europe. Brackets will be released right before the event goes live.

Like last event, all matches will have commentary by

Day9 and

JP, but this time will also have the addition of

djWHEAT.

HD and

Husky are not in attendance.

The live stream can be found on the front page of MGLPro.com all weekend. The schedule is below, with the finals taking place Saturday night. Those wanting to come down to the event and watch and can do so for free at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center just outside DC.

Blizzard don't care about arena anymore, they are moving the focus to BGs. There's no way 10v10+ will take off with this kind of event.

While many talents are certainly BG-friendly, the normalization of most stats and damages will help PVP in all forms. Hell, 2v2 and 3v3 might actually be more than just FOTM brackets.

Well I was talking more about their own plans than actually changes. I don't think they are going to do much balancing and shit around arena and just leave it, because BGs suit the game better and caters to a larger crowd. IMO that's great, considering playing again a bit after launch.

The normalization of stats will make it more balanced on a 1v1 basis, so balance issues should be less of a problem as the size of the group scales upward. I prefer BGs as well, but I don't see arenas as being totally ignored by this.

I've gotten my hopes up about the balance promises since the very beginning, and they've always been shot down at expansion launch, so it's entirely likely that they'll find some way to screw it up again. =X

I think it was ix who made a point about some flashy mechanics (no pun) which made the original highly entertaining and the absence of them in sc2. Perhaps they will emerge, or maybe I should start playing sc2 to appreciate the game more.

Due to the amount of complaints regarding the HD stream, MLG has upped the quality from 1.6 mb to 2.2 mb. You need to be able to support at least a 2.5mb stream for this to work properly. The people here at MLG know about the complaints to both the HD and SD stream and are doing what they can to get things moving. http://www.mlgpro.com/content/page/315565/SC2...-to-2-2-mb

He's obviously a great player, the kiwikaki games showed how his boring repetition style does have adaptability, but the game would be terrible to watch if everyone played like him.

Its funny, I've just come from reading that thread and 95% of replies are positive about Huks mothership rush.

People lwith mindsets like yours are what makes reading comments a frustrating experience at times.
