more than netcode the thing is to address the "rail through models" specific issue. It could be caused by that or by models being octagonal or something else.
the only thing i'd add to those questions is
- OSPDM1
Will maps be rolled into the free tier as new ones come out? It seems like it would be hard to keep free players interested long enough to want to pay if they're guaranteed never to get access to anything new.
ask him
- why there is absolutely no communication with the community
- what kind of player numbers they expect/need to keep quake live running
- what changes are on their current to-do list and how they prioritize what they work on in general
-how important he thinks having a reasonable feature set at day 1 and constant updates is for a competitive game, how quakelive compares against other popular new or at least still updated titles in this regard and whether he thinks the current workforce working on QL is enough to provide what's needed?
-have they thought about adding an option to spawn a LAN server with constant connection to the master server so that it could work as all the others and shut down as soon as the connection stops and if they have, what issues apart from being occupied would (or do) permit them from doing so?
I'd also love to see Nukm's and fooKi's questions answered.
I'm still under the impression that they think QL players can wait as long as id needs them to and just would like to know what the actual consensus is. But something like no offense intended or a rephrasing could be needed :)
Do the subscription fee's go back to the community members that built some of the maps that were released in this update (and future updates)?
How often can we expect updates now that we are paying for Quake Live?
I've heard that they do but I guess there is no real answer on it officially. Personally I think if that's the case more people would subscribe knowing that there will be future opportunities for community maps being released and the map authors being rewarded as well as other obvious benefits.
You might want to reword my questions.
Is the goal to keep quake live going in the graphical state that it is in or are there plans to say implement a rage engine version of the game? ie. is there a plan for the competitive gaming aspect of developing id tech in order to attract sponsors to a graphically more intensive game as with Starcraft 1 to Starcraft 2; keeping the gameplay the same but bringing it into a more modern graphical setting.
