the game doesn't feel complete or well developed. Gfx, weapon balance, community is on its way to die (look at their forums. Maybe quake live had something to do with that), walljumping, stun and strong ammo gimmicks, it encourages low scoring games, etc.
It's not a bad game but competition is miles better. As nvc said cpm is way better, but is more than that: so are the other games that are its basis even when they are very old now (qw, ut99, pk, etc.).
On the other hand those games and genre (fast fps games, besides quake live) are already dead, so the idea of making wsw may not be a good one at its roots.
We would all love having a new good and popular fast fps game, but warsow fails miserably at both in comparison to other older games. Last week I played some games after about 2-3 years and the game and the general feeling is that I'd prefer playing any other fast fps game than warsow. (for example qw or cpm)
and quake live is only .0.1... thats not really an excuse. warsow has been out for a long time and it had the greatest game of all time to imitate in some ways, but its buggy and stuff. still beats QL but doesnt beat cpma or defrag.
i like the walljumping, but what i dont like is the easiness of it: you can hold +forward and +moveup, and just keep accelerating and jumping without doing anything. of course, strafejumping is faster and you stop accelerating after a while but its kinda stupid.
i REALLY love the teleporter action though: if you jump into a teleporter, you spawn moving at the same speed, so you can keep going through the teleporter and gain an insane amount of speed (like 1500ups on the same teleporter)... which i find cool, especially on a map where it starts with a teleporter.
but i dont like playing warsow. not many good servers, and i cant play it good... feels too different
that seems pretty much the same as quake. armor has a 25 second respawn, and health has 35 seconds. better players (cooller?) can delay items in such a way that they pick up one, pick up a second, then pick up a third and wait for one to respawn, then just run from A to B to C and they all spawn right when he gets there.
in this way, quake is very similar, but just better. warsow has its own cool features but they dont affect strategies much, and warsow is the same type of game as quake (feels a little slower and stuff, but thats prolly just me).
