I think it's a joke that Villa and Sneijder came second and third, when Muller contributed the same in goals but more in assists as well as more in defence/excitement frankly.

Imho Schweinsteiger was by far the best player of the whole tournament. Forlan was great and probably the reason why Urugay came this far. So it's safe to say that he deserved it, but for Christ's sake stop your bullshit about your great country. It's both boring and stupid :/

Forlan was that most valuable player to any team, yes.
Because without him Uruguay wouldn't have gotten nearly as far.

All other candidates could have been compensated more easily, even though missing them would have certainly weakened their teams.

And the goal against us was just great :)

Yeah, I wondered if Wiese or especially Neuer would have been out of the goal faster to make the angle much tighter and maybe save it.

Not even Kahn in his prime would have gotten Forlan's shot, though.

I don't see it unfair. Forlan took Uruguay to semis by himself... cause, let's be serious, the rest of the team was a joke. Schweinsteiger, Iniesta or Muller could have deserved it too, but they have strong teams behind them, Forlan didn't.

I can't remember ever seeing Forlán play before this world cup but then again I never watch football unless it is the world cup. Dude was outstanding though and the award well-deserved. Nice to see a striker score that many goals from outside the box.

Yeah, I read up on him a bit after Uruguay's game vs. South Africa. That was the second time he was awarded it from what I could gather. Golden shoe or not, great player any way.

I really wanted him to score that last minute free kick against Germany. Shame he hit the post. He would have got the Golden boot if he had done so. He's the only player that stood out by far this whole tournament when it came to free kicks.
