Where are you going to be hosting it from? If it's from your home connection forget about making any kind of game server.

yeah, home connections aren't really great for hosting servers, unless if its an RTS game, but even those are moving to being centrally hosted

Torrent sites have been done to death, unless it's a niche market.. that is popular/upcoming, plus theres that legality side too..

what about a torrent server for gaming vids, i mean many of the old q3 / ut movies are only available as a low quality youtube stream nowadays, downloading the original would be great tbh

A home connection would not really support the bandwidth for this, I'm from the UK, not Sweden :<

Also, it doesn't really support the bandwidth for much.. other than a personal ftp/utorrent.. It's the reason i'm asking, maybe there are some other uses i could get out of it..

Well so far i've installed vmware ESXi 4 and windows 2003, il be setting up other virtual machines when i cba :)

do it like my roommate and set up a torrent client at home that you can access over the internet.
It's kinda neat to start a download at work and have the video waiting when I get home :)

its funny because downloads don't take long nowadays plus you don't need a server to do that. <3

But it's time spent at work not at home, and cuts of even the 15 minutes it takes to take the download.
And he has a htpc anyway, so that's what we use. no need to leave the bigger energy consumers running. Oh and lots of times i find that the torrent I wanted to get is already running.
