So what exactly did you have in mind?

As the owner of the National Gaming League (NGL - #thengl on gamesurge ) we are always trying to improve the competitive experience, in the short 3 months of our operation we've just finished up our first season, and already season 2 has encouraged much more interest in competitive play, we have 200% more tournaments for Season 2, with about 300% more Teams total participating, which translates to quite a large amount of individual players who have a role to play in our competitions.

One of our staff members, NGL-Skillasaur he has developed a brilliant irc bot for finding matches, TeamBot, I can imagine something like this within the QuakeLive website would be very well received by the community and most likely it wouldn't even be that difficult to implement, but I will defer that judgement to the professionals at ID Software, who I think have been working very hard to get as many satisfied players, not only old school players, but efforts to attract players new to the ID software line-up.

If you have any ideas or suggestions in how we could make competitive play better then please do let us know in #thengl on irc.gamesurge.net or e-mail [email protected] - and I will see what could be done on our end since competition is traditionally the role of the leagues, although I do see some opportunities for ID to enhance the competition enviroment and experience with features involving the quake live friends system, match system and perhaps allowing the creation of team registration within QuakeLive itself, then you can add an additional field to a player's id which would be their clan official affiliation, which would allow for teams to use in real time the built in social networking features of the quake live website to begin competitive match making. That of course is essentially a scrim league, but I think it would be quite popular, now is it worth the time spent vs return on investment? Not sure..

why use percentages. this isn't an infomercial. usually high percentages (200%&300%) are used to mask the meager numbers they represent. most people here realize the NA community consists of like ~70 active players, no reason to hide it.

Simple.. the ability to play an organized game with your friends at any time. The rest will take care of itself. Pretty sad it hasn't happened in 2 years.

BTW before you say NGL can spawn private servers blah blah blah I'm talking about ANYBODY at ANYTIME, like Joe Blow who's never heard of the NGL...

it isn't hard to find an empty server, and most people i've met will leave if you say you want to play a friend

I'm not talking about 1v1... that will always be at least on life support, and won't ever fully die like TDM has. (altho it is reallly close in the west coast)

some patch decreased boxsize: ping dependency and a few hours extra train in order to keep your aim up :-| (this is like lowering weapon damage option, same result, you have to shoot more to do same amount of damage)
some patch added ztn and t9: removed t4, my favourite map
newer browser options: no more on map statistics, I absolutely loved the option to find out the percent of wins/losses of someone on every map
some patch modified weapons strength: SG is lame-ass again

fucks me how ZTN got in QL.


guess what id? i made one of the textures in the original and it ported the same to QL.
