Quick cup or slo' cup, who gives a damn abt semantics? If organisers do some quick cups, this doesn't mean that players do quick trainings lol.

Most of the players train a lot of hours every day and get nada, Usually the benefits comes to the organisers. Well, when you play for fun it is your pleasure and you may use as much free time as you want, but when you play to compete it's a whole different story. We all kow that.
To me, getting famous-well known with the help of other people who actually do put a lot of effort in their training (every day!), looks like a cheap form of commercials, based on exploatation -talking abt companies, brand names, the names of the organisers, the name of the site which put on the competition, etc
500€ are a joke, yep, I am living in a country where the regular worker is earning about 300$/month, and I still consider that 500€ is a joke, especially in western europe countries, where you get more than 500 even by digging tunnels or begging the streets. But hey, the competitors are mostly some "kiddos", so what can they do, isn't it? They should be happy if they win a cup so they can show the cup to their daddy so he will let them play computer games from now on, isn't it?I don't mind the competition, but when there it is the elite feeling over it, without real support (money), I do disagree with the. I mean name me one single job in Germany or England where you don't get 500 euros/month WITHOUT A DOUBT -at the end of the month the boss won't look to his teeths to decide whether he wil pay the employee or not.
Anyway I don't care very much abt how much do they pay in starcraft competitions, I'd wish quakelive competitions would give more money to the players.

On a different story, you all professional players, who get sponsors or not, you should all stop with your stupid ego which make you look stupid, because: when you say that you trained just a little for this/that event (which is usually a lie anyway -hy party-strenxy!), you give good reasons to the organisers to not pay you. It's not the economical crysis why qlive doesn't pay the players, but your stupid statements which make the organisers look good and feel happy, even if they give you a couple of bucks.
If you will admit that you put a lot of time and effort into your games, the world would be more sensitive abt this matter and AT LEAST would talk about how low the prises are, compared with your effort -time is money on every level, you imbecils.

i don't get your point completely. From my pov prize money is only a nice bonus as pocket money that you can win next to your normal job/school/university and motivates you to spend just a little more time on it, while the large amount of playing you spend for fun anyways. There is only a very small percentage of people who can live from playing games and there is nearly none in QL, of course it would be nice to make professional gaming in QL possible with higher prize money on a large scale, but there is just nothing that justifies such sums in QL, the playerbase is too small, the audience is too small, there is nearly none public interest. It's okay as a side eSport game with a yearly prize money between 50k and 100k in total, but not more atm.

While the prize money in SC2 quick cups is just a little reward for pro gamers practise time or a little pocket money for those people who do upsets. And yes I agree that people should only spend so much time on gaming as they can afford.
