Incredible game. Czm couldn't cope with the crazzy speed and aim of Cypher. He still doesn't seem 100% adapted to cpma vq3, can't stand a chance in such high paced game with fast Euro players. This was Cypher at his best afaik. Game with lots of pixel rails, hitscan plasma, mad lg and cum all over the place. Crystal clear 10.

well this game was not ease, this was rape. surely czm might do somewhat better, but to me cypher looks pretty much invincible right now.

Thought the same thing but the second game was precisely pt4 and czm had absolutely no chance to win, even on (t)his map. He made more frags but it still looked like he couldn't do anything.

While we were waiting on GTV for the game to begin, peeps listening to audio stream said that czm declared this and that Cypher felt very confident, I can't tell you if it's true or not but I believed it was.

its not comparable to osp, its a different game. but looking only at cpma vq3, yes, noone has ever been better than todays cypher.

I don't care waht anyone says, you stop playing a game you become out of sync. It's an all or nothing thing with these games at this level.

Cypher played q4, he got beat fairly consistently, the game was not different enough from q3 to warrant his dominance now and somehow put him into toxic status. There are OTHER factors, mostly I would say all the rivals simply moved on while he' still young enough and free enough to game 24/7.

Rapha beat him, K1lsen pushed him to the edge, this not someone who is unbeatable.

This is simply someone who's playing someone who's out of sync. I would rather have been top of the q3 pile in 2004 than in 2008, any fucking day of the week.

Good post. Couldn't of said it any better my self. Cypher vs Av3k is what i wanted to see and nothing will compare to the Qcon2002>2004 - ESWC 2003 > 2005 events/demos i saw on the legends cd when i got into duel. I admit i'm new school to this Quake 3 game cause i started around 2004 in rocket arena but coming from a cs background i can understand that now the game is played so +forward and everyone is on their edge of there seats for a great games but you won't see any quality shit like Toxic vs Cooller ever again the game kinda lost tournament appeal around 2005 and you're lucky that theirs even a community left.

And toxic only did so well because cooller stopped playing ;)

I mean how old is cypher? 18-19? A good portion of his time is likely taken up by study and education and perhaps he has to work as well? Maybe someone like cooller at 15-16 during wcg02 then sure or avek in recent years.

Losing motivation and dedication to be the absolute best then sure I can see that being a major factor as you age but I think you'll find most of these guys have just as much time as each other to practice.

reaction times are a lot quicker when you're younger too! It's been proven.

yeah that's true but it's a shame quake is based so little on reaction time and more on experience in a given situation

hence people being aim beasts on certain maps while poor on others, and how you can still hit pretty impressive shots without the crosshair (give it a go you'll be very surprised). I doubt many people aim 'raw' maybe your natural aimers like toxic and z4muz but you'll find most of the time its drawn from the game

besides even if reaction time played a key roll I don't think quake is hardly at the level where that few ms make a difference

I still think motivation and desire to be the best is a bigger deciding factor when it comes to the effect of age even in physical sports. people play the age card a little too much for my liking in terms of physical performance and ability (which is why I think Redgrave is an absolute fucking legend).

I tried cyphers settings from that config on eswc site and its just REALLY slow, to the point where u cant even seem to turn and do a 180 reasonably.

When i watch his matches it looks like he has a really high sens. I did the whole divide accel by 16 as i am on 1800 dpi mouse and divided his sens by 4 as i believe he uses a 400/450 dpi intellimouse?

So am i wrong? Does he use a high dpi mouse? Cuz wiht sens 0.5 and accel 0.0625 u cant do shit ;/

He doesnt use sensitivity 5, all of his weapon binds include sensitivity 2 :)

window sensitivity+window resolution can affect q3 in game sensitivity :X

at one point cypher was above czm at the lower YA spawn..came barely out the door...czm's player model didnt even show on the moniter, and cypher railed him through the tiniest pixel of space before czm went in the teleporter...theres no way he did that without a bot.

Well, it was really nice of the ESWC admins to let him install this bot on their computer when he got there. And it's a really neat that the Quakecon admins let him install it on their computers, too. Especially since he played on many different machines (as they all did) throughout the tournament.

Only just watched this demo. God damn that's some crazy shit! Kind of like watching Jordan or some other great sports star when they are on "fire" (Yes I know that is a stupid comparison, but that's all I could think of :P). Cypher was just hitting everything, even flick shots when he had basically no reaction time... and all the while keeping almost total control...Insane.

That was crazy.

I don't like where the game is heading. Even at the top level you can rely on superior aim so much that a 200/200 stacked enemy in a better position and with complete map control gets toasted by this kind of shafting in 2-3 seconds - and there's absolutely nothing you can do except for camping up behind a corner like a wuss. Don't get me wrong. Cypher's shafting is just amazing the best I've ever seen in this game hands down.

Damage on hitscan weapons somehow needs to get toned down and the tactical aspect of the game should get more focus. I don't want to turn the table on people with a talent for aiming, just balance it slightly and make the game more interesting.

What do you think?
