UnrealTournament, the game that has been around for almost a decade and seems to be indestructible is still one of the more popular ones.
Not just because it is probably the only game still able to pass the 600 comments count on ClanBase for a single match (EC iCTF Final).
One of its younger gametypes, BunnyTrack is another reason for UT's retaining activity. The addictive mod is often described (besides nerve killer and concentration trainer) as UnrealTournament's equivalent to Defrag, which is not quite accurate though, as there are some major differences. It however, discloses BT's main focus.
The
1on1 BT WorldCup is organized by BT-MaTcH and known for its coverage quality and the world wide online matches. Former cups featured online games like those of players from

Portugal vs from

Australia,

New Zealand vs

USA or

Canada vs

Poland. The cup will again be hosted on ClanBase as their own website is still under constrution this however, has rather been an advantage in the past, because the crew had more time to concentrate on coverage. Shown for instance by the pervious season's 216 reports per cup, an amount that is unique on ClanBase as well.
Despite of the high skill level reached in the cup, it is open for all players. Besides the main, first league there will again be at least 2 other leagues for those who aren't too advanced yet or just want to give it a try. The maps of the lower divisions are held easy.
Sign ups are open. Players who are familiar with ClanBase and 1on1 can sign up
here (note that you have to switch to your 1on1 personality). Others can find a description of how to sign up
here.
synteX, the title holder who developed to something like a living legend of BT will try to defend his title and is one of the favourites again.
adikoz is one of multiple Polish players who have a good chance to get very far this season. Poland has had a strong BT community from the beginning, thus it is not much surprising that at least two of their players count to the candidates for winning the title this season.
K'rool is probably the best kown player in the BunnyTrack scene, also because of his outstanding maps. Another reason is his great base skill that doesn't demand a lot of training in order to master new maps.
JinStarwnd is besides K'rool and synteX another oldskool player who usually doesn't need much practise to get back into shape.
DrAkO is the second Polish player who has justified hopes for winning the title.
Lamu is the best Italian and only female player in the elite division. Her huge experience and map knowledge could help her to get very far in this cup.
Sypher is a dedicated record runner, that actually sums it up. His strength is speed, but also experience. He ended up 4th in the last season.
Nav took the silver last season and was the most feared opponent until the final. His combination of speed and safety proved deadly for most of his opponents. However, the pressure was too much for him in the final, thus a by many expected easy win turned into a clear loss.
If he manages to control his nerves in all matches this time, he will surely be able to 'spread terror' again.
Big Bull3t is another well known oldskool BunnyTracker and great mapper. However, it is not very likely to see him back in action, as he is busy 'gangsta rapping'... you never know though.
BunnyTrack is based on the UnrealTournament gametype "Capture The Flag" and was made by clan FEB who released it in October 2003.
Since then many mappers and scripters have worked on it to improve the gametype with add-ons and new maps. There are more than 1000 maps now, besides numerous mods and add-ons.
The main difference to CTF: You don't have to fight against opponents in order to be able to score. Instead of that you have to make your way through obstacles, which need jumping-, dodging-, shooting-, timing-skills and more (depending on map).
BT-MaTcH started in 2004, as a channel for pickups and to keep the BunnyTrack community together.
The channel
#BT-MaTcH (irc.quakenet.org) gained popularity due to a feature that was orginally planned to be only a secondary 'fun' add-on: The storing of BT map world records. It also covers BT news, map ratings and a few other features. The website was started in late 2007 and is still under construction.
