The purpose of science is the exact opposite, but you do have to have belief in it externally.

If you take any word you can come up with scenarios why it would be a bad thing. Why is telling the truth always a good thing? I don't tell everybody I find ugly or fat my opinion. That would be cruel and mean. Let's say there's someone with a horrible disease, dying. Let's say it's a child. If you had the option of telling him that there isn't anything and make him miserable the little of time he has left OR lie and make him have a little hope to make the little time better, why is the first option the ethically right, the best option?

You can't logically convince a religious zealot to throw religion. He or she doesn't respond to logic, as a logical person doesn't respond to emotion-based stories how God always shows up to save some one person from unfortunate accident but has no accountability of millions dying however.
