Best season we've had in ages, and what a last race! I'm almost looking forward to next season already.

From a racing pov it really was the best season since years, but other than that it was pretty standard with weird FIA decisions etc.

Well, the last years were all about Schumacher driving at the front with the rest driving their own race. Ok, now it was more or less McLaren and Ferrari driving at the front, but at least it was somewhat entertaining.

It aint the same shit cause it was schumi vs alonso for 2 seasons. last year however, there were 3 teams with a fast car, renault, ferrari and mclaren, this year there were only 2 teams.. so from that point of view, last year was better :-)

I even forgot more than I thought. :P
But the races were not as entertaining. This year we at least had some good overtakings. That's why I enjoyed this season more than any of the previous.
I'd say F1 needs more GP2, tho I doubt any of the big names/brands would give their name for something they didn't engineer.

Passing this year has been much more difficult than usual, because of the spec tyres and 19k limited engines.

thanks. guess i get your point (engines are more equal; a team doesn't get an advantage because xyz built the better tyre).
on the other hand everyone's driving the same car in the gp2. but then again, i don't know how sophisticated the aerodynamics are in a gp2 car. maybe the problems with turbulent airstreams aren't as big.

The main problem with the tyres IMO are that as Symonds said, they have very disproportionated characteristics, so they only allow the drivers to go into a corner in one way (previous styles like Alonso's or Raikkonen's don't work anymore). And corner entry is where the bigger differences between drivers are made. That's why this year there has been a lot more equality between team mates than ever. Look at the classification in September for example (drivers grouped by cars, how sad was it):

How was it the worst in years? We had 3 guys in the last race that could have won the championship. I previous years it was either 2ez for alonso or schumi :D
Besides we've had a few other guys show some great racing. Heidfeld and Vettel for example has shown they both got great talent during this year.

First time I've been remotely interested in F1. Schumacher's domination was awful for the sport. Guess that just goes to show how good he really was. I love that next year there will be at least 3 guys fighting for the top spot.

seems that there is an inquiry into 4th 5th and 6th places due to fuel irregularities :o but with the FIA and thier rulings being as up and down as they have been in recent years not sure thats gonna make much of a difference...

If it does and they get disqualified, Hamilton is champion. That would be the perfect ending for all these scandals, after all Räikkönen wasn't punished for his illegal car in Australia either.

you're so full of it. They didn't have an illegal car. They got through the tests which is all it needs to do to be legal when it comes to the bodywork. You're just desperate.
They were working within the rules, and did more than Mclaren. Mclaren found out through their stolen Ferrari document and asked if it was ok. After that the FIA adjusted its rules and tests since they didn't intend for that to be possible. This is NOT cheating. If it was cheating then renault cheated in 2005-2006(mass dampner), Michelin in 2003,...

As for 'cheating' Mclaren raced the whole season in a car that had an unfair advantage over Ferrari because they had their data. And we all know 1+1=2 > 1. From what I've read: Stepney told Coughlan/McLaren about the illegal part. McLaren told the FIA, the FIA investigated and said it's illegal. McLaren didn't appeal.

Passing just the test is far from being the only thing needed to be legal. Anything designed to move, like Ferrari's floor, is illegal. Otherwise teams would be able to use electrically controlled aero movable parts that pass the load test. But we don't see any, wonder why?

I remember I played a F1 manager game like 10+ years ago that featured oldschool names like Damon Hill, Villeneuve and some others I can't recall, but most importantly the commentary was my Martin Brundle. :p
In Holland we have Olav Mol who sometimes makes a mistake but in general it is exciting to listen to him, he has a lot of passion for the sport.

Its decent. I dont watch every race myself. There are still too few overtakes in my oppinion (alonso being the the most exciting to watch). But the battle for the championship was quite exciting this year, and even more so next year I reckon. Also there are some pretty good drivers, in some of the worse teams, which I sort of hope succeed better next year.

Childish? It was serious enough for the biggest fine in sports history (from what I heard anyways).

sure it was a lot of money, doesnt mean the reasoning behind it was pretty tame.

if you consider that they stolen industrial stuff from a competitor, and that the 100M$ fine was the better choice for mclaren (no 2007 and 2008 championship, no sponsors, no opportunity to fight for the drivers championship, etc etc), also in the light that the budget difference between mclaren and spyker is over 100M$, i don't think that the fine was too strong. i think it was too soft.
but i can understand why they did in this way. we had the best drivers championship from ages this year, and everyone were delighted to see great races till the end of the season. but in the end only a ferrari driver deserved the championship.

I agree with you. I've sort of looked at ferrri as a "bad team" in f1. Meaning, if a team was objecting to rule that all the other teams agreed on, it was ferrari. Schumi known as sort of a dirty driver, what team was he on? Ferrarri.

HOWEVER. I think that mclaren deserved that fine. What they did deserved to be penalized and pretty big too. I dont know alot about what the content they got, and how much they helped them. But the punishment they got was probably right.

It was constructed last season. Copy pasting doesn't really work well in engineering. You could try copying a concept tho, but that doesn't say anything about how well it gets along with the rest of the car.
That's why they need to prove that there's no "intellectual property" by Ferrari in their NEXT car NEXT season.

the ferrari and mclaren are two very different car, no doubt about that.
but you must admit that renault sucked a lot for the michelin->bridgestone transition, and mclaren was simply too good. with all that specs from ferrari they had the opportunity to fine tune their car to obtain the best from the new tires. plain and simple.

stepney said a lot of shit from the beginning of this story. he told some crazy stuff also about ross brawn, but the investigation from ferrari proved once again that the only spy in the ferrari team was stepney. in fact ferrari and brawn are still in contact.

Rossi is definitly the greatest MotoGP biker ever. If he was riding on a Honda, he would be champion after half of the championship.

he is a great biker but i don't think that he is the best ever (agostini? doohan?). when he was at honda he had the best motorbike, far superior than his opponents' motorbikes, similar to this year with ducati+stoner. also, i don't think that a honda this year was far superior than a yamaha... maybe only a lil better.
ducati was absolutely superior, not the best handling, but the best engine and the best overall package. still, i think that rossi can win against stoner with the same motorbike, at least for the experience gained during the past years. stoner is just a kid, but he can improve a lot.
