there are a lot of pb free servers, try the in game server browser(!) and set it to filter PB servers. Also play ETPro, not etmain :)

i'm using the ingame server browser and i set the filter to don't show pb servers but i'm still getting kicked.

i seemed to get pb running fine i believe, think you just need to copy the pbsetup files to the pb subdirectory inside the retail directory.

Havent tried playing ET, didnt even know there was a mac port for it, but will try later.

i checked a bunch of forums etc. and all i found out is that pb won't run on intel macs using universal binaries.

i have the pbsetup.run file in my Quake 3 folder, i just ran it and updated quake3.

says client version v1.730 | A1353

and you can actually connect to PB servers? installing pb is no problem, but it won't connect to any pb server :/

so it doesnt, wrote a support request to evenbalance, see if they get their finger out

i went to the states as part of a student exchange program and i didn't have a laptop at that time. since i wasn't playing any newer games anyway and i got a student discount on the macbook as well as a free ipod nano i thought why not go for it and give it a try. i mostly needed it for school, picture-editing, some light video editing, music and internet.
ive been playing qw every now and then without a problem. q3 also runs fine (except for the punkbuster problem). never really liked apple products but i have to say the macbook is a great laptop.

Thinking about it again the problem may be more linked to the installer not putting pb in the correct directory as in the first link. I would try that fiest before changing versions from d to c ..
