it's refreshing to hear a non standard soundtrack and the movie feels light hearted and fun which, again, is refreshing when a majority of movies feel overly serious. my biggest complaint is that skits parodying "vq3" and/or "serious" movies feels a bit overdone now. overall i find this entertaining and it will likely be on my HDD for a long while.

hmmm depends on what you mean by a new approach. it's safe to assume that if i make a video, it will not be like the cpm movies we've seen recently such as this one, kicked and removed, claw and order etc. it will be rather 'serious' as a few comments in this thread have mentioned with very few 'lol' moments cuz frankly, you guys do that kinda stuff much better than i could. however, the current video i'm working on is quite different from my previous one mercurial. first of all, there's no psytrance being used. come to think of it, there's hardly any 'electronic' music in it so the soundtrack is quite different. secondly, the focus is on the frags and overall flow rather than flashy effects and editing tricks. that is to say, most of the stuff will be shown in first person with cams used only where it looks better than a pov.

the trouble is that you can never really please everyone. a lot of people liked mercurial judging from the comments but many people prefer videos like this one and q3fuel2. in fact, this sort of preference even differs from site to site with the users of esr usually looking for content and flow while the people over at own-age.com tend to look at editing and software skills.

anyway, let's see when i do finish it :) if people like this style of content over presentation, i'll think of doing another one with the frags of a cpm star. if someone else wants to take it up before that, that's great as well. i don't really care who makes it as long as one is made because a 'fragged by rat or aph' would simply be awesome to watch.

that's just what i wanted to hear :) expecting a nice movie then

i'm not using brightskins, already capped most of the content without them but i learned that mercurial was too dark to see the player models at times so i've made sure that the config is a lot brighter now. visibility will not be a problem, i'm pretty sure of it.

my favourite cap in any game with ctf like mode is agg's 2 jump across cpmctf2 mid. my jaw literally dropped when i saw that demo.

Deflagging ctf2 at that speed is pretty common. But I do like how he used the rl to gain just a little bit of height on the last jump.

Edit: the high quality version isn't as good as the original, it runs shitter and is half the FPS.

High quality version has a little bit better picture and it runs perfectly with ok computer and proper codecs.

Yeah I suppose the picture is better and it does run alright (shit at seeking though) but halving the FPS is noticeable, the original probably looks better overall.

x264 version is also 50fps. If you're playing it with vlc media player and your computer isnt good enough, vlc drops frames to keep audio & video in sync. Try getting haali media splitter and play it with bs player.

As a community (for the community, by the community) movie, it was pretty good. But I don't think it can stand on its own as frag movie. Frags weren't that entertaining. There were several parts that were genuinely good, but most of it was meh and kinda disappointing after seeing kicked & removed and lob's movies.

There was some seriously bad music in there too, but I'm assuming that was intentional.

I change my mind. Movie has grown on me a bit since then...
