Graphics and animation is good,
story is blade runner rip off, story sucks big time,
but graphics are really cool, it's really worthy to see the film just for the graphics.

personally I prefer the Ghost in the shell anime series: Stand alone complex (1+2 "GIG")

the series seems to be lacking something, imo. maybe a better main villian for each season or just more action and less cyborg/hacker politics.

This is exactly the reason why I like the series.
There is plenty of other anime out there that contains what you want.
If you want nice visuals, and more action, less plot developement then try the remake of the Appleseed movie.

Funny that Blade Runner (Directors Cut) is my favourite movie, then. You may have your point there but it has a completely different way of telling the story than Blade Runner, and other Asthetics, also it's a very well worthy sequel to the 1st movie and makes it more understandable. But I can't say I completely disagree.

Yay, I just started watching Stand Alone Complex. I hope it's really as good as people say, first few "Stand Alone" episodes were cool, but I can't tell until I saw some of the "Complex" Episodes if it really is \:D/.

the complex episodes are a little boring sometimes, but the end makes it all worth it.

Just watched the last 3 Episodes of 1st GIG, just awesome. You rarely see any Movies with such a well thought out story.
It really gave me the creeps :)))

Well you should at least have seen the first movie and eventually read the first manga to get the whole cyberbrain/virtual reality/ghosts/AI's thing. It's pretty hard to understand, especially if you have bad luck with subtitles (first I had some english subs that were utter shit, then I got some fancy german ones with explenations of the references in the dialogue and such)

/:edit oh and it's got not only badass graphics, the sound is also the most amazing i've ever witnessed to grace an animated movie, just turn up the bass
