I've already messaged several admins about this. I've only chosen this forum to elaborate and see if there is any support from the userbase to help persuade the admins.

With ESWC Masters Q3 beginning in just over a day, I believe many spectators would enjoy an added dimension of excitement. I propose that everyone's current ESR$ bank be sent to savings and everyone is reset to a substantial amount, perhaps somewhere between E$2.000 and E$5.000.

I understand that historically, the ESR$ bank has been reset to E$500. But considering the fact that the entire ESWC Masters group stage schedule is already available, I thought it might be more enjoyable if everyone were allotted additional funds with which to place wagers.

Furthermore, this is the first major international Q3 lan event since 2006. I can't recall the ESR$ bank being reset since well before then--it's about time, don't you think? Sure, it's all virtual, but I'm fairly certain this would mean an increase in hits for the website as well as the increased thrill for the spectators. Not to mention, there will be continued appreciation on through QuakeCon (whichever tourney game they use) and ESWC Finals in the coming weeks as long as the fixtures for those are made as well.

If this doesn't sound feasible or agreeable to the admins or the betting system, then in the very least, please make fixtures for the matches. We'd appreciate it, thanks!

there's finally a new punkbuster update, first one in forever. i'm guessing it has something to do with that whole netcoders fiasco.

the funniest part is, now that PB has finally caught up to a ton of the q3 client-hooks out there, so many of our favorite players aren't quite so OMGAMAZING anymore, or they seem to have gone missing! even more interesting are the players that were accused of funny business, yet continue to be strong as ever.

How to play back Q3 demos


This is the final map of the #duel Tourney X grand final. geoff was atop the winner's bracket facing off against Bio, the LB winner. The map is cpm29. We were playtesting this map for a certain organization that is currently reviewing potential maps for use in their future tournaments.

I just wanted to get this demo out there so people can become a bit familiar with cpm29 and see how it plays. The demo isn't spectacular, but nailbiting nonetheless. Unfortunately, the demo starts about 90 seconds into the game. Then Bio gets a phonecall from an old friend a few minutes into the game and there's a long pause which lasts about 15 minutes. Also, there were plenty of spectators apparently enjoying their holiday spirits and making quite a bit of sardonic chatter in good fun.

Either way though, it's an fun demo from either POV and that's what we're showcasing here. Feel free to watch it and return feedback on the map and how it plays. Enjoy.

Both maps from WB Final of WSVG finals. I believe socrates quits in both of these games; once was shortly after loudly yelling "WHAT THE F***" after catching a few consecutive rails from Toxic. Not the greatest viewing because of the /rage;/quit, but they're still Toxic demos...

For those of you using NOD32, what's the date/version# on your "version of virus signature database" in the nod32 control center? I've got this suspicion that mine isn't updating.

nm it turns out i was using some evaluations update server; seems that the full version doesn't like that too much.

I was cleaning out my closet and found some things that other people might find useful:

Various sources I've read are inconclusive. On one hand, I'd like to take advantage of new mouse technologies soon. On the other, I'm in love with my black Icemat v2.

In particular, I'm considering the Logitech G5. A reliable source told me that I was definitely misinformed; laser mice (he didn't specify G5) DO work with Black Icemat v2's. But a friend of mine told me his icemat + g5 was nonfunctional.

Reading several tech forums hasn't convinced me of anything, though the general consensus leans towards G5+Icemat=nogo.

I'd appreciate if some of you that own or have tried this combination would share your experiences. I'm also interested in hearing about the various laser solutions from Razer in combination with an Icemat.

Championship match for QuakeCon2003 Q3A Duel tourney. Demo is high quality: no lag, no speech. Starts off Z4muZ point of view for a few seconds, then switches to ZeRo4 for the rest of the game. Good, solid play in this one.
